DOKU Rebrands as Antom Deepens Strategic Investment in Indonesian Fintech Leader
By Lauren Towner · 25 September 2026

Indonesian payment leader DOKU has undergone a major leadership reshuffle and rebranding as "DOKU by Antom" following a deepened strategic investment from Ant International. For fintech professionals, this move signals a tighter consolidation of Southeast Asian payment infrastructure under the Ant International umbrella, merging local Indonesian market dominance with global merchant acquiring capabilities.
What was announced
DOKU announced the appointment of co-founder Himelda Renuat as Chief Executive Officer of DOKU and Head of Antom Indonesia. She succeeds Chris Yeo, who has led the company since 2022 and will now transition to the role of Head of Antom Philippines. This leadership shift coincides with a rebranding to "DOKU by Antom," reflecting a closer alignment with Ant International’s merchant payment services and its Southeast Asian regional gateway subsidiary, 2C2P.
The deepened partnership focuses on three primary pillars: integration with Antom’s global merchant network, expanded collaboration with 2C2P to assist Indonesian merchants in scaling across Southeast Asia, and the development of broader financial services. These services include multi-currency solutions, cross-border processing, and the exploration of lending and treasury management tools. The move builds upon a strategic partnership first established in February 2026, aiming to bridge the gap between local Indonesian payment methods and the broader Alipay+ unified wallet gateway ecosystem.
DOKU, which serves over 300,000 merchants including major names like TikTok, Google, and Garuda Indonesia, maintains its existing licenses and operational name while leveraging Antom’s strategic investment. Under the new leadership, the company’s roadmap for 2027 emphasizes deepening merchant relationships and extending into new industries and payment channels. This transition is designed to connect DOKU’s local regulatory standing and merchant relationships in Indonesia to Ant International’s broader product ecosystem.
"DOKU was built on almost 20 years of trust with our merchants, and that foundation isn't changing. What's changing is our reach. With Antom and 2C2P supporting us, we can serve the merchants who trust us today even better, go deeper into the industries that need us most, and help more Indonesian businesses take their first step across borders. I would also like to thank Chris for the structure he has helped shape. It is an honor for me to continue the leadership journey from here."

The companies involved
DOKU by Antom is a pioneer in the Indonesian fintech space, established in 2007. It holds a comprehensive suite of six payment licenses from Bank Indonesia, covering payment gateways, fund transfers, e-money, and QR code payments. It was notably the first Indonesian firm to achieve PCI DSS Level 1 certification. The company serves a diverse range of clients, including Trip.com and Prudential, providing a single point of integration for online and offline payments.
The company is now a core part of Antom, the merchant payment and digitisation arm of Ant International. Ant International itself is a subsidiary of Ant Group, the global financial technology giant. Antom operates alongside 2C2P, a regional payment gateway that Ant International acquired a majority stake in to bolster its Southeast Asian presence. Ant International has positioned itself as a major player in cross-border commerce through its Alipay+ ecosystem, which connects global merchants with various local e-wallets. By integrating DOKU more deeply into this structure, Ant International strengthens its foothold in Indonesia, one of the world's fastest-growing digital economies.
What FF News has reported before
FF News has closely followed the technological evolution of Ant International as it expands its global footprint. Recently, the company launched its AI-Native FinAI Stack, designed to revolutionise global merchant payments through advanced machine learning. The firm has also been a proponent of next-generation payment protocols, having open-sourced its Agentic Mobile Protocol to facilitate AI agent-based payments. This technology was quickly adopted in markets like Macao, where MPay integrated the protocol to launch AI-driven agentic payments. Additionally, Ant International’s Alipay+ network continues to expand its reach, recently partnering with i-Aurora to scale global QR payments for international consumers.
What this means
This announcement highlights the ongoing consolidation of the fragmented Southeast Asian payment landscape. By moving DOKU under the "Antom" brand and integrating it with 2C2P, Ant International is effectively creating a unified regional stack that challenges local incumbents and global competitors alike. The pressure is now on independent local gateways to prove they can match the cross-border efficiency and treasury management capabilities of a global giant with deep pockets. The industry must now ask whether the "local hero" model of fintech is still viable, or if the future of Southeast Asian payments belongs to those who can bridge the gap between domestic regulatory compliance and global capital flows.
