TerraPay has integrated its TerraPay Verify solution into Kinexys by J.P. Morgan’s Liink Confirm application, allowing financial institutions to validate bank account and digital wallet details before initiating cross-border transfers. This integration addresses the high failure rate of international payments by ensuring beneficiary accuracy across global markets and diverse payment endpoints.

What was announced

The integration enables both traditional financial institutions and non-bank financial institutions connected to the Kinexys Liink network to access TerraPay’s verification capabilities. By validating recipient details before a payment is initiated, the system aims to mitigate the common pitfalls of cross-border transactions. According to a LexisNexis Risk Solutions study, between 10% and 15% of international payments fail because of incorrect beneficiary information, which leads to increased operational overhead, settlement delays, and higher fraud risks.

As the global payment landscape shifts toward a mix of traditional bank accounts and digital wallets, the ability to verify these diverse endpoints becomes a critical component of transaction certainty. This collaboration specifically targets the Confirm application within the Kinexys Liink network, a blockchain-based platform designed to improve transparency in what is often an opaque sector. By providing a mechanism for pre-payment verification, the solution supports the G20’s broader objectives to enhance the speed and accessibility of global money movement while reducing the friction associated with avoidable payment exceptions. The collaboration expands the reach of TerraPay Verify among global institutions while reinforcing the company's focus on building interoperable payment infrastructure.

"By integrating Kinexys Liink’s Confirm application with TerraPay Verify, we’re making it easier for financial institutions and non-bank financial institutions to improve control and help reduce payment fraud throughout the cross-border payment lifecycle. Together, we’re supporting institutions as they adapt to a rapidly changing landscape and build greater trust with every transaction."

The companies involved

TerraPay is a prominent player in the global money movement space, positioning itself as a provider of cross-border payment infrastructure. The company focuses on interoperability, connecting diverse payment systems to enable seamless transfers across borders. With a significant footprint in the fintech sector, TerraPay has been a frequent subject of industry coverage, reflecting its active role in expanding payment corridors and digital wallet integration globally. The firm provides the underlying technology that allows banks and wallets to communicate across different regulatory and technical environments.

Kinexys by J.P. Morgan represents the banking giant’s dedicated blockchain business unit. It is designed to leverage distributed ledger technology to solve long-standing inefficiencies in wholesale payments and information sharing between financial institutions. The Kinexys Liink network, which hosts the Confirm application, serves as a collaborative ecosystem where participants can exchange data to reduce friction in the global payment chain. By combining J.P. Morgan’s institutional reach with TerraPay’s specialized verification tools, the partnership bridges the gap between traditional banking infrastructure and the burgeoning world of digital wallets and alternative payment methods.

What FF News has reported before

FF News has followed TerraPay’s aggressive expansion strategy closely, recently reporting on its partnership with Exim Bank Uganda to launch Exim Global Pay. The company has also been active in North America, where RemitBee and TerraPay partnered to scale payouts for Canadian SMEs. Additionally, the firm recently worked with the National Bank of Bahrain (NBB) to bridge traditional banking with global digital wallets. Meanwhile, J.P. Morgan’s blockchain unit has been making its own headlines; FF News reported that Kinexys by J.P. Morgan launched JPM Coin on Ethereum to scale institutional payments, signaling a shift toward broader blockchain interoperability and institutional adoption of decentralized technology.

What this means

This integration moves the needle by shifting the focus of cross-border payments from "repair" to "prevention." For years, the industry has accepted a high failure rate as a cost of doing business, but as real-time payment expectations migrate from domestic to international markets, that tolerance is evaporating. By embedding verification into the Kinexys Liink network, J.P. Morgan is putting pressure on traditional messaging systems that lack native, real-time account validation. The move raises questions about how quickly other blockchain-based networks can achieve similar levels of interoperability with digital wallets, which are increasingly becoming the preferred endpoint for remittances and SME payments globally.
