Forter Launches Agentic Commerce Engine to Secure AI Shopping Surge for Merchants
By Lauren Towner · 13 October 2026

Forter has launched its Agentic Commerce Engine to address the surge in AI-driven shopping, which has seen a fourfold increase in orders since August. For fintech leaders, this provides a critical framework to distinguish between legitimate AI personal assistants and malicious bots, securing a rapidly emerging revenue channel ahead of the peak holiday season.
What was announced
Forter’s Agentic Commerce Engine is positioned as the first comprehensive solution for managing the end-to-end experience of AI-driven shopping. The engine is designed to handle the rise of personal assistants like Muse, Instinct, and Grok Bot, which consumers use to automate searches and purchases. The launch comes as Forter reports a fourfold increase in agentic orders across its network since August, alongside a doubling of automated fraud attempts over the last two months.
The suite includes three primary components. First, Fraud Management for Agentic Commerce extends Forter’s core offering to identify and decision scraper and agent traffic in real time. Second, Agentic Orchestration facilitates headless checkout through agentic protocols, allowing merchants to set specific transaction conditions via a single no-code integration. Finally, the AI Activity Dashboard provides granular visibility into which agents are transacting, using Forter Prism for analysis.
A key technical driver for the engine is the shift away from screen scraping. Forter’s internal experiments indicate that headless protocols are approximately 10 times faster and five times more token-efficient than scraping methods. By providing a dedicated infrastructure for these agents, merchants can avoid the high costs and error rates associated with traditional scraping while maintaining security against bad actors attempting to blend into legitimate AI traffic. The system is designed to prevent malicious agents from scaling fraud and abuse while ensuring legitimate AI assistants can complete purchases seamlessly.
"Every merchant is now effectively opted in to agentic commerce, whether or not they’ve prepared for it. The choice merchants have isn't whether agentic traffic engages with their site this holiday season; it's whether they are equipped to control, optimize and drive revenue from it."
Eran Vanounou, CTO at Forter.
The companies involved
Forter operates as a Trust Intelligence platform, focusing on the intersection of commerce, identity, and fraud prevention. The company provides a real-time decisioning engine that analyzes over $500 billion in annual gross merchandise value for some of the world’s largest brands. By leveraging a massive global network of identities, Forter aims to reduce friction for legitimate customers while blocking sophisticated fraud attempts.
Headquartered in New York, Forter has established itself as a significant player in the e-commerce security space, moving beyond simple transaction monitoring to broader "trust intelligence." This involves managing the entire customer journey, from account login and loyalty program protection to payment optimization. The company’s expansion into agentic commerce reflects its strategy to stay ahead of shifts in consumer behavior, particularly as generative AI changes how shoppers interact with digital storefronts. With a leadership team that includes CTO Eran Vanounou and Director of AI Adam Davies, Forter continues to scale its global retail AI strategy, recently appointing Jennifer Howard as Chief Merchant to further this objective.
What FF News has reported before
FF News has closely followed Forter’s evolution in the AI space. In June 2026, the company launched an AI Agent Suite designed to automate fraud prevention and payment decisions. This followed the appointment of Jennifer Howard as Chief Merchant in May 2026 to scale the firm’s global retail AI strategy. Earlier, in April 2025, Forter introduced predictive payment routing and GenAI agent detection, signaling an early focus on the risks posed by automated shoppers. Additionally, the industry has seen broader infrastructure shifts, such as Primer’s partnership with BUT to strengthen payment frameworks, highlighting the growing complexity of modern commerce environments.
What this means
The shift toward "agentic commerce" represents a fundamental change in the e-commerce funnel, moving from human-to-machine interaction to machine-to-machine transactions. This announcement puts significant pressure on traditional fraud prevention tools that rely on human behavioral biometrics, which are largely irrelevant when the "shopper" is an AI bot. For the wider industry, the challenge is no longer just about blocking bots, but about creating a "fast lane" for legitimate AI agents while maintaining rigorous security. As AI personal assistants become mainstream, merchants who fail to adopt headless, agent-friendly protocols risk losing significant revenue to competitors who offer a more efficient, non-scraping interface for these automated buyers.
