Sumsub and FOMO Pay Partner to Secure Global Payments with AI-Powered Trust Infrastructure
By Lauren Towner · 6 October 2026

FOMO Pay has integrated Sumsub’s AI-powered trust infrastructure to strengthen its global compliance operations across Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. For fintech professionals, this partnership highlights the urgent shift toward modular, API-first verification systems capable of countering a 180% global surge in sophisticated, AI-driven fraud attempts.
What was announced
Singapore-headquartered payment institution FOMO Pay is incorporating Sumsub’s suite of compliance tools into its existing technology stack. The integration provides FOMO Pay with enhanced capabilities in identity and business verification, alongside advanced transaction monitoring. This move is designed to address the complex and varying regulatory requirements across FOMO Pay’s operational footprint, which includes Southeast Asia, the Greater Bay Area, and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).
The technical implementation utilizes Sumsub’s modular, API-first platform to optimize onboarding and compliance workflows across different customer segments. The system supports more than 14,000 identity document types from over 220 countries and territories. A key component of the deployment is Sumsub’s proprietary Liveness detection technology, which is designed to identify up to 99.98% of deepfake attempts in a single scan. This is particularly relevant given that AI-enabled deepfake incidents rose by 158% in Singapore and 147% in Hong Kong year-on-year in 2025.
Beyond initial onboarding, the partnership extends to business verification, ownership verification, and AML screening. FOMO Pay is also utilizing Sumsub’s transaction monitoring tools to review customer account activity for potential risks. This end-to-end coverage is a response to a global landscape where multi-step, resource-intensive AI attacks increased by 180% in 2025. Regionally, the Middle East saw the fastest fraud growth at 19.8%, followed by APAC at 16.4%.
"As financial services become increasingly interconnected across markets, businesses need technology and compliance infrastructure that can evolve alongside their operations. At FOMO Pay, we continuously develop our processes and technology to support our expanding footprint and changing regulatory requirements. Our partnership with Sumsub adds further capabilities to our verification and compliance workflows, complementing the broader infrastructure we have in place as we scale across markets."

Regarding FOMO Pay, our coverage has previously focused on their infrastructure expansion. In September 2026, we reported that FOMO Pay and NIPL Launch UPI Payments at Singapore’s Resorts World Sentosa, highlighting the company’s role in facilitating regional payment interoperability.
What this means
This partnership signals a shift in how cross-border payment institutions view compliance—moving away from static "check-the-box" KYC toward dynamic "trust infrastructure." As payments and digital assets converge, the regulatory burden of operating across Southeast Asia and MENA has become too complex for monolithic, in-house systems to handle alone. The 180% spike in AI-driven fraud suggests that legacy verification methods are now obsolete. By adopting a modular, API-first approach, FOMO Pay is addressing the reality that compliance must now be as scalable and fast as the payments themselves. This puts pressure on other regional players to upgrade their stacks or risk becoming soft targets for increasingly sophisticated deepfake attacks.
