Valu Partners with Majid Al Futtaim to Launch Flexible Payments for MENA Entertainment
1 September 2026

Valu has secured a strategic partnership with Majid Al Futtaim to integrate flexible payment solutions across major entertainment venues in Egypt. For fintech professionals, this move signals the continued expansion of Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) and lifestyle financing into the high-frequency leisure sector, moving beyond traditional retail and e-commerce boundaries.
What was announced
The partnership integrates Valu’s financial technology ecosystem into three of Majid Al Futtaim’s primary entertainment and leisure brands: VOX Cinemas, Magic Planet, and Ski Egypt. The integration is designed to provide customers with greater financial flexibility through deferred payment plans when accessing these services.
Specifically, Valu is now functioning as an offline payment method at all VOX Cinemas and Magic Planet locations. For Ski Egypt, the service is available across both online and offline channels. Customers can utilize these flexible payment plans by using their established Valu credit limits or through the Valu Prepaid Card. The agreement also includes provisions for exclusive upcoming offers tailored for Valu users at these specific destinations.
This collaboration targets young consumers and families who frequent Majid Al Futtaim’s flagship destinations, aiming to lower the immediate cost barrier for premium entertainment experiences. By embedding financing directly at the point of sale—both at physical counters and digital checkouts—the two companies are looking to drive higher transaction volumes and customer loyalty within the Egyptian leisure market.
"This partnership highlights Valu's mission to integrate seamless financial experiences into our customers' daily lives. By continuing our collaboration with Majid Al Futtaim, we are providing young consumers with access to top-tier entertainment through flexible and accessible payment solutions that align with their lifestyle aspirations."
Walid Hassouna, Chief Executive Officer of Valu.
The companies involved
Valu is a prominent universal financial technology powerhouse operating within the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The company has positioned itself as a lifestyle-enabling solution, moving away from being a pure-play BNPL provider to offering a broader ecosystem of financial services. It maintains a significant presence on the Egyptian Exchange through its association with EFG Hermes, a leading financial services corporation in the region.
Majid Al Futtaim is a diversified conglomerate based in Dubai, with extensive operations across the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. The group is a dominant force in the shopping mall, communities, retail, and leisure industries. Its entertainment portfolio, which includes VOX Cinemas and the indoor ski resort Ski Egypt, represents a significant portion of the leisure market in Egypt. The company frequently partners with global brands like Visa and Amazon to enhance its digital and payment infrastructure. In Egypt and Lebanon, the firm’s regional operations are overseen by Mahmoud Youssef, Country Head for Majid Al Futtaim.
What FF News has reported before
FF News has previously tracked Valu’s aggressive expansion into the Egyptian retail landscape. Recently, the publication covered how Valu Becomes Exclusive Flexible Payment Provider for IKEA Egypt in Two-Year Partnership Renewal, a move that solidified its standing in the home furnishing sector. This latest development with Majid Al Futtaim follows a similar pattern of securing long-term, exclusive, or strategic footprints within major international brands operating in the MENA region.
What this means
The expansion of flexible payment limits into the cinema and indoor theme park sectors suggests that the "lifestyle financing" model is maturing. In a high-inflation environment, entertainment is often the first discretionary expense to be cut; by offering installment plans for a movie ticket or a day at a ski slope, Valu and Majid Al Futtaim are attempting to insulate the leisure sector from broader economic pressures. This puts significant pressure on traditional credit card issuers in the region, who often lack the seamless, point-of-sale integration that fintechs like Valu provide. The industry must now consider whether micro-financing for low-ticket, high-frequency entertainment will become a standard expectation for MENA consumers.
