Tano Partners with Lumanu to Streamline Creator Payouts & Tax Compliance
1 September 2026

Tano and Lumanu have expanded their partnership to automate affiliate payouts, enabling brands to manage thousands of creator relationships without increasing back-office headcount. For fintech professionals, this represents a significant integration of AI-driven marketing with cross-border payment infrastructure, solving the complex tax and compliance hurdles inherent in the global creator economy.
What was announced
Tano, an AI-native influencer marketing partner, has integrated Lumanu’s API to power its Affiliate Programme Management service. This expansion follows an initial partnership established in January 2026, which focused on flat-fee creator compensation. The new integration allows Tano to handle recurring, high-volume affiliate payments across TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube.
The Tano model uses AI to analyze creator profiles, audience data, and content signals at a scale human teams cannot match. This automation allows human strategists to focus on negotiation and campaign briefs while managing more than 4,000 creators simultaneously. New clients can go live in under 24 hours, leveraging AI to handle the manual labor of discovery while humans maintain strategic control.
To facilitate these payments, Lumanu creates a dedicated bank account for each Tano client. This structure protects client funds and allows for instant creator payments at the moment of conversion, rather than relying on traditional net terms. Clients fund these accounts in USD, GBP, or EUR, while creators receive funds in their local currency via local rails such as ACH, SEPA, and Visa Direct. Lumanu acts as the master vendor, collecting W-9 and W-8 forms, filing 1099s, and performing compliance checks. This removes the tax liability from Tano and its clients. Lumanu currently processes over $1.5 billion in annual payments to 500,000 creators across 180 countries and 130 currencies.
"Our business model is built to unlock the human marketer. We use AI for what it's best at. It finds the right creators from data no team could process by hand. This lets our strategists 10x the amount of time they spend building and owning creator relationships. When it comes to paying those creators and staying compliant, we didn't want AI or our own team managing support and compliance. That's Lumanu's job, and their reputation made the choice easy."
Will Caplan, CEO, Tano.
The companies involved
Tano is an AI-native influencer partner designed to bridge the gap between automated data analysis and human relationship management. By utilizing AI to handle the manual labor of creator discovery and audience analysis, the company enables brands to scale influencer campaigns significantly without the proportional increase in staff typically required for such operations. The firm focuses on surfacing creators across major social platforms by analyzing content signals that would be impossible for manual teams to review.
Lumanu serves as a payments and compliance platform specifically built for the global creative economy. The company provides the financial infrastructure necessary for businesses to pay freelancers and creators worldwide while managing the complex regulatory requirements of different jurisdictions. Lumanu’s platform supports transactions in over 130 currencies, positioning it as a critical layer for companies operating in the social commerce space. By acting as a master vendor, Lumanu handles the administrative burden of tax reporting and compliance checks.
The partnership heavily leverages major social platforms including TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. These platforms are the primary environments where Tano’s AI monitors engagement to identify high-performing creators for brand partnerships, while Lumanu ensures the financial plumbing remains robust across these diverse ecosystems.
What this means
This move signals a shift in the influencer marketing sector from manual, high-touch agency models toward "infrastructure-as-a-service." By automating the most friction-heavy parts of the creator lifecycle—discovery and payments—Tano and Lumanu are putting pressure on traditional talent agencies that rely on manual back-office processes. The ability to pay creators instantly upon conversion, rather than 30 or 60 days later, is a powerful competitive advantage in a market where creator loyalty is often tied to payment reliability. It raises a broader industry question: as affiliate models become the standard for social commerce, can legacy payment providers keep up with the demand for instant, cross-border micro-transactions?
