Hollywood Feed Partners with Sunbit to Launch World Elite Mastercard Co-Branded Rewards Program
1 September 2026

Hollywood Feed and Sunbit have launched a co-branded World Elite Mastercard, aiming to capture a larger share of the $158 billion U.S. pet market. This partnership highlights the growing trend of retailers using embedded finance to convert high-frequency, essential household spending into long-term customer loyalty through highly specialized, vertical-specific credit products.
What was announced
The Hollywood Feed World Elite Mastercard is a co-branded credit solution designed to reward the consistent spending patterns of pet owners. Cardholders are incentivized immediately with 20% off their first Hollywood Feed purchase. The rewards structure is particularly aggressive in its first year, offering 5% back in Hollywood Feed rewards on all purchases made anywhere the Mastercard network is accepted. Following the introductory year, the 5% reward rate remains active for all purchases made specifically at Hollywood Feed locations.
The program is built on the World Elite Mastercard platform, providing users with a suite of security and protection features. These include AI-powered fraud monitoring, Mastercard ID theft protection, and Zero Liability Protection. The financial product is currently available to eligible customers at 35 select Hollywood Feed locations across the Memphis and Atlanta markets. A broader rollout is scheduled to bring the card to all Hollywood Feed stores across the United States on September 21, 2026.
The timing of the launch aligns with significant growth in the pet sector. Data from the American Pet Products Association indicates that U.S. pet industry spending reached approximately $158 billion in 2025. This growth is largely attributed to a shift toward premium nutrition and preventive wellness care, making pet-related expenses a substantial and predictable portion of the modern household budget. By integrating a credit product into this cycle, the retailer aims to provide a more value-driven experience than traditional loyalty programs.
"Pet food is one of the most predictable recurring purchases in a household budget. It gets bought every month whether or not anything else does,"
Bill Walsh, Chief Customer Officer at Sunbit.

What FF News has reported before
FF News has tracked the growth of Sunbit’s partners and the broader embedded finance landscape. This includes significant developments at Stripe, a key Sunbit partner, such as when KAST Appointed Stripe Veteran Connor Fitzgerald as U.S. General Manager to lead market expansion efforts. We also reported on Stripe's infrastructure growth in the Asia-Pacific region with Stripe Marks 10 Years in Singapore with Major Infrastructure Expansion for Global Trade. Furthermore, the trend of integrating AI into financial ecosystems was highlighted when Stripe Acquired OpenRouter to Power AI Token Optimization and Economic Infrastructure, reflecting the same technological shift Sunbit is employing with its proprietary AI-driven credit tailoring.
What this means
This announcement signals a strategic shift in how specialty retailers defend their market share against generalist e-commerce giants. By offering a 5% reward rate on all purchases in the first year, Hollywood Feed and Sunbit are effectively subsidizing customer acquisition to capture the "wallet share" of the pet industry’s most loyal spenders. For the broader fintech sector, this move underscores the increasing pressure on traditional banks to offer more than just generic cashback. The success of this program will likely depend on whether the predictable nature of pet spending is enough to offset the risks of high-reward credit products in a volatile economic climate. It raises the question of whether other high-frequency retail niches will follow suit in bypassing traditional loyalty points for direct financial incentives.
