Press Release: Talus Debuts ReadyPoint: A Smart Mobile POS Solution Powered by Ingenico SoftPOS | Featured Image by FF News

Talus has launched ReadyPoint, an all-in-one mobile point-of-sale solution utilizing Ingenico’s SoftPOS technology to transform standard smartphones into comprehensive business operating suites. For fintech professionals, this move signals a shift away from pooled-risk payment aggregator models toward dedicated merchant accounts in the mobile space, offering greater stability for high-growth enterprises.

What was announced

ReadyPoint is a smart mobile point-of-sale (mPOS) application designed to consolidate payments, inventory management, and customer insights into a single device. The solution is built on Ingenico’s PCI MPoC certified SoftPOS technology, enabling NFC Tap-to-Pay capabilities alongside camera-based barcode scanning. Beyond basic transaction processing, the app supports multiple payment methods including Link, QR codes, and manual card entry.

The product is specifically tailored for industries requiring high mobility, such as field services, contractors, automotive repair, and specialty retail boutiques. By removing the need for fixed checkout hardware, ReadyPoint allows employees to conduct business anywhere within a brick-and-mortar environment or out in the field. A key technical differentiator highlighted by the firm is the provision of dedicated merchant accounts. Unlike traditional payment facilitator (payfac) environments where multiple sub-merchants share a pooled risk profile, ReadyPoint provides individual accounts to help merchants avoid the risk of sudden shutdowns caused by the activities of other businesses in a shared pool.

Following a soft launch period, the solution is now in general release through the Talus reseller channel. Independent sales organizations (ISOs) and agents gain access to the Talus Partner Hub for sales materials, training videos, and residual tracking. The platform also includes 24/7 U.S.-based human support and secure device sharing protocols. Talus and Ingenico will showcase the technology at the Western States Acquirers Association Annual Conference in Palm Springs, California, from September 15-17, 2026.

"Dedicated merchant accounts and first-class support set ReadyPoint apart. In payfac environments, one problematic sub-merchant can put others at risk of account shutdown. ReadyPoint’s digital merchant application, with instant approvals, onboarding and activation, reduce start-up time while helping merchants avoid pooled-risk exposure."

Kim Fitzsimmons, Chief Executive Officer at Talus.

The companies involved

Talus is a Dallas-based fintech firm specializing in payment processing and software enablement. The company currently serves more than 22,000 merchants across North America, processing approximately 65 million transactions annually with a total charge volume exceeding $12 billion. Talus operates as a portfolio company of Alvarez & Marsal Capital (AMC), a private equity firm managing over $5.8 billion in assets. Ingenico, the technology partner for the ReadyPoint launch, is a global leader in payment acceptance solutions. The company provides the underlying SoftPOS infrastructure that allows standard mobile devices to accept secure payments without additional hardware. Ingenico’s involvement in this partnership leverages its expertise in secure payment technology to expand its footprint in the North American mobile commerce market. The company focuses on helping merchants combine secure payment acceptance with the flexibility needed to adapt to evolving commerce trends, moving away from traditional fixed-point infrastructure.

What this means

The launch of ReadyPoint highlights a growing tension between the convenience of the "PayFac" model and the security of traditional merchant acquiring. By offering dedicated accounts in a mobile-first format, Talus is directly challenging the dominance of aggregators who have historically owned the micro-merchant and mobile-pro segments. This puts pressure on established mobile payment providers to improve their risk management and support structures. As SoftPOS technology matures, the industry is moving toward a hardware-agnostic future where the value lies in the software ecosystem—inventory, insights, and engagement—rather than the terminal itself. The challenge for the sector remains balancing the demand for instant, digital onboarding with the long-term stability of the merchant account.
