Ingenico Strengthens Global Leadership Team to Drive In-Person Commerce Innovation
2 September 2026

Ingenico has overhauled its executive leadership team following a €150 million capital injection, appointing four new chiefs across product, technology, revenue, and customer excellence. For fintech professionals, this move signals a pivot from financial restructuring to aggressive product innovation as the hardware giant seeks to defend its position in the increasingly software-driven in-person commerce market.
What was announced
The leadership refresh introduces Maria Parpou as Chief Product Officer, Paul Gardiner as Chief Technology Officer, Ieuan Owen as Chief Revenue Officer, and Oliver Moore as Chief Customer Excellence Officer. These appointments are timed with a reset of Ingenico’s capital structure, supported by a €150 million investment from a group of global investors led by PIMCO. This capital is specifically earmarked for product innovation and customer excellence initiatives, strengthening the company's ability to execute its current strategy.
Maria Parpou joins from Mastercard, where she managed the global gateway business for over 200 acquiring banks. At Ingenico, she will lead the global product organisation, shaping strategy and the development roadmap. Paul Gardiner, previously Chief Information Technology Officer at NCR Atleos, takes over the technology strategy and engineering teams. His background includes leading the separation of NCR Atleos from NCR and modernising service operations platforms. Gardiner brings more than 25 years of experience in software engineering and payments infrastructure.
Ieuan Owen, formerly of Xplor Technologies and Worldpay, will lead the global commercial organisation to accelerate execution worldwide. Finally, Oliver Moore, who recently headed customer support at Sitecore and held roles at Colt Technology Services and Deltek, becomes Chief Customer Excellence Officer. He is responsible for creating a more seamless experience across the customer journey. The new team is tasked with advancing the AXIUM family of Android-based payment devices and the Ingenico 360 unified cloud platform. The company is also emphasizing its Developer Journey, a suite designed to help partners and Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) build, certify, and launch new payment experiences more rapidly.
"We have been clear about our priorities: accelerating innovation, building the best products, and delivering exceptional experiences for our customers and partners. Our new executives bring world-class expertise across product, technology, and customer excellence. Together, they strengthen every critical capability we need to deliver on our strategy,"
Floris de Kort, Chief Executive Officer, Ingenico.
The companies involved
Ingenico is a dominant force in the in-person commerce sector, providing the hardware and smart technology that powers point-of-sale transactions globally. The company has navigated a complex corporate history, having previously been a part of Worldline before being carved out as a standalone entity. Its current focus remains on the transition from legacy hardware to integrated Android-based solutions and cloud services. The investment backing this leadership change comes from PIMCO, a global investment management firm.
The new executives bring experience from several major industry players. Mastercard, where Maria Parpou served as EVP of Mastercard Payment Gateway Services, remains one of the world's largest payment networks. Worldpay, where Ieuan Owen held senior roles, is a major global acquirer. Other firms represented in the new leadership's pedigree include NCR Atleos, the ATM and retail technology specialist, and Xplor Technologies, a provider of software and payments for fitness and wellbeing businesses. The appointment of Oliver Moore also brings in expertise from outside the immediate payments sphere, including Colt Technology Services, a global digital infrastructure provider, and software firms Deltek and Sitecore. This mix of traditional banking, payments infrastructure, and enterprise software experience reflects the diverse capabilities required in the modern fintech landscape.
What FF News has reported before
The €150 million investment in Ingenico arrives amid a broader recovery in the sector. FF News recently reported that Global Fintech Investment Surges to $103.1B in H1'26 as US Megadeals Drive Market Recovery, suggesting a more favorable environment for capital restructuring. The focus on integrating payments into broader software ecosystems is a recurring theme in the industry. We have seen similar strategic shifts in the market, such as when Marqeta and Zero Hash Partner to Enable Global Stablecoin Spending via Card Networks and when PhotonPay Boosts Global Checkout with Apple Pay and Google Pay Integration. Additionally, the movement of high-level talent remains a key indicator of corporate health, as seen when Versapay Appoints Payments Veteran Glen Braganza as Chief Financial Officer to Drive Global Scale.
What this means
This executive overhaul represents a definitive move to transition Ingenico from a hardware-centric manufacturer into a platform-as-a-service provider. By hiring leaders from Mastercard and Worldpay, the company is signaling that it no longer views itself merely as a terminal provider, but as a software and services partner. The industry is currently under immense pressure from "cloud-native" competitors who integrate payments directly into business management software. Ingenico’s success will depend on whether its AXIUM and 360 platforms can offer enough flexibility to keep ISVs from bypassing traditional hardware vendors entirely. The central question for the sector is whether legacy giants can pivot fast enough to capture the value in the software layer before they are commoditized as simple device manufacturers.
