Press Release: Perk Launches Industry-First AI Assistant Integration for Global Travel and Spend Management | Featured Image by FF News

Perk has integrated its travel and spend management platform with major AI assistants including Claude and ChatGPT, allowing employees to automate administrative tasks directly through conversational interfaces. For fintech leaders, this represents a significant shift toward agentic workflows, moving corporate travel and expense oversight into the large language models employees are already using.

What was announced

Perk, the AI-native platform formerly known as TravelPerk, has enabled its 12,000 global customers to manage travel bookings, expense submissions, and team event coordination via third-party AI assistants. By utilizing Perk’s Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, employees can interact with Claude and ChatGPT to handle what the company describes as "shadow work" - the repetitive administrative tasks that detract from core business functions.

The integration ensures that any bookings or expenses made through these AI tools remain within corporate oversight. Out-of-policy actions are automatically routed to the company’s existing approval flows, where managers can review and authorize them using their own preferred AI assistant. A notable industry first included in this rollout is the ability to organize team events directly within the AI interface. Additionally, Perk has integrated its Entry Ready feature into the MCP, which proactively surfaces eVisa and Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) requirements at the point of booking, reducing the risk of travel disruption.

Looking ahead, the company confirmed that the Perk Agent for Slack is scheduled for release in September. This upcoming tool will allow customers to access the MCP connector directly within the Slack environment, utilizing existing authentication and permissions without requiring the setup of a separate AI assistant.

"We built this so customers can get insights and take action in real time, while businesses maintain control no matter what tools they're working in. The Perk Agent for Slack is coming next, and this is just the next phase of fully agentic workflows to remove shadow work, and help teams focus on the most impactful work,"

Nikita Miller, Chief Product Officer, Perk.

The companies involved

Perk is an intelligent AI-native platform dedicated to travel and spend management. The company recently rebranded from its former name, TravelPerk, signaling a broader strategic shift from a pure travel booking service to a comprehensive spend management ecosystem driven by artificial intelligence. With a global customer base exceeding 12,000 organizations, Perk occupies a critical space in the corporate travel market, focusing on reducing friction in the booking and reimbursement process.

Slack is a leading enterprise communication platform that serves as a central hub for workplace collaboration. By integrating with Perk's MCP connector, Slack expands its utility from a messaging tool to a functional interface for financial and logistical operations. This partnership highlights the growing trend of "headless" fintech, where complex back-end financial processes are managed through the communication tools that employees use daily, rather than requiring them to log into dedicated, siloed software platforms.

What FF News has reported before

FF News has closely tracked the evolution of AI-driven financial workflows and Perk's specific role in this transition. We previously covered the initial launch of the Perk Launches Industry-First MCP Connector to Bridge Travel and Spend Data with ChatGPT and Claude, which laid the technical groundwork for today's announcement. Our reporting has also touched on the broader trend of agentic finance, including MoonPay Acquires Entendre to Launch AI-Powered Agentic Finance for Stablecoins and Farseer Targets UK and North America with AI Analyst Launch for Boardroom-Ready Finance. What this means

This move signals the end of the "app for everything" era in corporate travel. By meeting users in Claude and Slack, Perk is effectively commoditizing the user interface and betting entirely on its underlying data and policy engine. This puts immense pressure on traditional travel management companies (TMCs) that still rely on proprietary, closed-loop portals. The real test will be the September Slack rollout; if Perk can successfully migrate expense management into a chat thread without losing policy compliance, they will have solved the "shadow work" problem that has plagued finance departments for decades. Watch for competitors to scramble for their own MCP integrations to avoid becoming obsolete in the AI-first workplace.
