LianLian Global Partners with PayPal to Revolutionize Cross-Border Payouts for Social Commerce
By Lauren Towner · 26 October 2026

LianLian Global has partnered with PayPal to enable its social commerce and marketplace clients to send payouts directly to PayPal and Venmo accounts. For fintech professionals, this integration bridges the gap between complex cross-border collections and the immediate liquidity needs of the global creator economy, streamlining mass disbursements for platforms operating across 96 markets.
What was announced
The partnership integrates LianLian Global’s cross-border collection and compliance infrastructure with PayPal’s global wallet network. This allows LianLian Global’s enterprise clients—specifically those in the social commerce, marketplace, and e-commerce sectors—to execute mass disbursements to sellers, influencers, and independent contractors. The service supports payouts to PayPal account holders in 96 global markets across 24 currencies, using only a recipient’s email address or mobile number. In the United States, the integration also enables domestic payouts to Venmo handles.
The move targets the rapidly expanding creator and gig economy, where brands are projected to spend $32.6 billion on creators by 2026. With approximately 50 million people worldwide creating content professionally or semi-professionally, the demand for low-friction, high-speed payouts is significant. By leveraging PayPal’s network, which reached over 400 million active accounts at the end of Q2 2026, and Venmo’s 67 million monthly active accounts, LianLian Global aims to eliminate the need for traditional check runs, postage, and the collection of sensitive bank routing numbers.
LianLian Global’s suite of services, including pay-in, pay-out, acquiring, and foreign exchange, currently reaches more than 200 countries. Its parent company, Lianlian DigiTech, has served over 13.3 million clients and maintains connections with more than 180 global e-commerce platforms, supporting settlement in over 140 currencies. This collaboration specifically expands the firm’s payout coverage as cross-border platforms scale their contractor programs.
"Social commerce is creating a new economy, where creators, influencers and independent sellers drive discovery and sales alongside the platforms they sell on. Paying these participants fast, across borders and in small amount is what powers the network effect of social commerce. We see our work with Paypal as a key step in building the payout rails for the global gig economy."

The companies involved
LianLian Global is a major provider of cross-border payment and compliance infrastructure, operating as part of the Lianlian DigiTech group. The company specializes in digital payment services for enterprises expanding internationally, offering a comprehensive stack that includes virtual cards and payment aggregation. With a strong foothold in the B2B cross-border space, LianLian has positioned itself as a critical link between global e-commerce platforms and millions of individual merchants and service providers.
PayPal is one of the world’s most recognized digital payment platforms, operating a massive global wallet network that spans approximately 200 markets. Beyond its core consumer wallet, PayPal provides extensive merchant services and owns Venmo, a dominant peer-to-peer payment app in the United States. The company has increasingly focused on its "Payouts" functionality to capture the flow of funds from large platforms to the "long tail" of the gig economy, utilizing its existing user base to bypass traditional banking friction.

FF News has extensively covered PayPal’s evolving role in the retail and digital commerce landscape. Recent reports include PayPal Research: Retailers Risk Losing Christmas Shoppers Without Early BNPL Visibility, which highlighted the importance of flexible payment options at checkout. The company has also been advancing its technological integrations, as seen in PayPal and Glance Launch Agentic Commerce Integration for Native In-App Checkout. Furthermore, the firm has expanded its reach through partnerships like the BigCommerce and PayPal Expand Embedded Payments Solution to UK Merchants initiative. Consumer sentiment has also been a focus, particularly in the PayPal 2026 Survey: Americans Prioritize BNPL and Rewards to Protect Holiday Spending.
What this means
This partnership moves the needle by addressing the "last mile" problem in cross-border gig economy payments. For years, the friction of international bank transfers and high wire fees made small-value payouts to global creators nearly impossible for mid-sized platforms. By utilizing PayPal and Venmo as the delivery endpoint, LianLian Global effectively bypasses the legacy banking system for the final leg of the transaction. This puts traditional correspondent banks under further pressure, as they lose out on the volume of these high-frequency, low-value transfers. The move raises questions for the wider sector about whether specialized payout providers can maintain their niche as global wallet networks like PayPal become more deeply embedded in B2B infrastructure.
