Press Release: Juspay and Wego Expand Partnership to Streamline Travel Payment Orchestration Across MENA | Featured Image by FF News

Global payments technology firm Juspay has expanded its partnership with Wego, the largest online travel marketplace in the Middle East and North Africa. By integrating Juspay’s orchestration layer, Wego aims to streamline cross-border transactions and local payment methods across the MENA region, addressing the complex fragmentation that often hinders conversion rates for international travel platforms.

What was announced

The expanded collaboration focuses on supporting Wego’s growth as it enters new markets across the Middle East. Juspay is providing the infrastructure to enable rapid integration of local payment service providers (PSPs), acquirers, banks, and local payment methods (LPMs). This allows travelers to use familiar payment options, ranging from standard debit and credit cards to regional digital wallets, through a checkout journey tailored to individual markets.

Technically, the partnership leverages Juspay’s unified payment orchestration layer, which connects to more than 300 PSPs and acquirers globally. This infrastructure is designed to handle significant scale, with Juspay currently processing over 300 million transactions daily and maintaining an annualized Total Payment Volume (TPV) exceeding $1 trillion. The system is built for high reliability, boasting a 99.999% uptime.

Key performance improvements cited since the initial partnership include higher authorization rates driven by intelligent transaction routing and 3D Secure (3DS) optimization. The system also utilizes automated retries to recover eligible failed payments and provides unified error mapping. These tools give Wego greater visibility into payment issues, allowing for faster resolution across different providers. As Wego continues to scale, the two companies intend to explore further payment solutions tailored to the evolving needs of the travel marketplace and its customers.

"Wego has built its leadership in MENA by understanding how travellers across the region search, compare, and book travel, and by continuously adapting our platform to their evolving needs. Payments are an important part of that experience. As we scale across markets with different payment behaviours, our partnership with Juspay gives us the flexibility to offer more locally relevant ways to pay while maintaining a simple and reliable booking journey. This is part of our broader commitment to using technology and local market insight to make travel easier and more accessible for our users."

What FF News has reported before

FF News has closely tracked Juspay’s expansion into new technological frontiers and strategic partnerships. We previously covered the company’s move into agentic commerce with the report Juspay Launches Breeze Universal to Enable AI-Powered Agentic Commerce across Platforms, which detailed how the firm is making brands more discoverable through AI. Additionally, Juspay’s role in the subscription economy was highlighted in our coverage of their collaboration with Recurly. In Juspay and Recurly Partner to Scale Global Subscription Payments via Hyperswitch and the related piece Recurly Taps Juspay’s Hyperswitch to Unlock 300+ Global Payment Providers for Subscription Merchants, we explored how Juspay’s Hyperswitch technology is being used to unlock hundreds of global payment providers for merchants operating on subscription models.

What this means

This expansion underscores the critical role of payment orchestration in the travel sector, where high-ticket transactions and cross-border complexities often lead to cart abandonment. For the MENA region, which is characterized by a fragmented landscape of local payment methods, a "one-size-fits-all" approach is no longer viable for major marketplaces. Juspay’s ability to provide a unified layer puts traditional, rigid payment gateways under pressure to offer similar flexibility. The move suggests that for large-scale platforms, the competitive advantage is shifting away from simple processing toward intelligent routing and the ability to rapidly localize the checkout experience without incurring significant technical debt.
