Press Release: Juspay Launches Breeze Universal to Enable AI-Powered Agentic Commerce across Platforms | Featured Image by FF News

Juspay has launched Breeze Universal, a global pilot designed to integrate brand discovery and commerce directly into AI platforms like ChatGPT and Claude. For fintech professionals, this represents a significant move toward "agentic commerce," where the traditional search-and-buy funnel is replaced by a single, continuous conversation that bridges the gap between discovery and payment execution.

What was announced

Breeze Universal is an expansion of Juspay’s commerce technology suite, designed to allow shoppers to discover and purchase products through AI-led conversations. The platform enables banks, fintechs, and marketplaces to deploy shopping experiences to their users without building new infrastructure. It functions by connecting a business’s existing product catalogues from platforms including Shopify, WooCommerce, and Magento to various AI surfaces. Shoppers can use the "@breeze" command within ChatGPT to receive recommendations across participating brands. For example, a user might query the AI for skincare products under ₹1,500 and receive a curated list of recommendations from multiple brands without leaving the chat interface.

Built on Google’s Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP), the solution ensures brands are compliant with AI commerce standards immediately. It is offered as drop-in components, a headless kit, or via APIs. This allows brands to launch their own branded apps within ChatGPT, providing a unified storefront that covers their entire catalogue through a single search bar. The pilot aims to help merchants find wider discoverability by making the commerce layer a plug-in rather than a separate destination. Rather than putting one brand at a time on AI platforms, Breeze Universal creates a shared layer where brands can join to make their catalogues available across multiple AI platforms simultaneously, eliminating the need for merchants to build individual integrations for every new AI model.

"As the world continues to look towards AI assistants for day-to-day product and service recommendations, we can no longer treat discovery and payments as two separate entities. For consumers, they are becoming one continuous experience. Through Breeze Universal, Juspay aims to be the technology service provider that enables brands to become discoverable within AI-led conversations and seamlessly connect discovery with commerce. This gives merchants the foundation to prepare for the shift towards agent-led commerce."

The companies involved

Juspay is a global payments technology company headquartered in Bengaluru. It focuses on building high-scale payment infrastructure and commerce technology, with Breeze serving as its dedicated commerce platform. The company has positioned itself as a bridge between complex payment ecosystems and merchant needs. The Breeze Universal ecosystem relies on integrations with major e-commerce platforms. This includes Shopify, a dominant global commerce platform, and WooCommerce, the open-source e-commerce plugin for WordPress. Magento, another key partner in this integration, is a prominent provider of open-source e-commerce platforms. The technical foundation of the project is built on Google’s Universal Commerce Protocol, leveraging Google’s extensive footprint in financial services and cloud solutions. By utilizing the infrastructure of AI platforms like ChatGPT and Claude, Juspay is tapping into the growing user bases of OpenAI and Anthropic to facilitate a new layer of transactional discovery that bypasses traditional search engine results pages. This integration allows brands to maintain their existing operations on Shopify or Magento while extending their reach into conversational AI environments.

What this means

This announcement signals a pivot from search-based commerce to agent-led commerce, which places significant pressure on traditional SEO and affiliate marketing models. If AI agents become the primary gatekeepers for product discovery, brands that fail to integrate with these conversational layers risk becoming invisible. For the fintech sector, this moves the payment trigger further upstream into the discovery phase. The open question for the industry is whether consumers will trust AI agents to handle the entire transaction lifecycle, from recommendation to settlement, or if security concerns will keep these platforms relegated to a discovery tool. It forces a rethink of the checkout experience as a background process rather than a foreground action.
