BRED Bank Fiji Modernizes Payment Infrastructure with BPC SmartVista Migration
By Effie Foxtrot · 30 October 2026

BRED Bank Fiji has completed the migration of all active Visa and private-label cards to BPC’s cloud-based SmartVista platform. For fintech professionals, this represents a significant modernization of payment infrastructure in the South Pacific, enabling faster product launches and enhanced security through AI-powered fraud management in a region undergoing rapid digital transformation.
What was announced
BRED Bank Fiji has successfully migrated all active Visa and private-label cards to BPC’s cloud-based SmartVista issuing platform. This transition follows the earlier modernization of the bank’s acquiring services, marking a significant step in the bank’s overarching payments modernization strategy. The new infrastructure is designed to be scalable, allowing the bank to launch new card programs with greater speed and consistency across its operations.
The migration enables broader acceptance of international cards for domestic, cross-border, and e-commerce transactions. Merchants supported by BRED Bank Fiji now have access to enhanced capabilities, including:
- Contactless and multi-currency acceptance
- Purchase with cash-out and cash advance services
- Pre-authorisation, tips, and refunds
- Digital merchant onboarding and multi-currency settlement
Furthermore, the bank is integrating its payment gateway into the SmartVista platform to improve online payment processing speeds and security. To bolster transaction safety, BRED Bank Fiji has also implemented BPC’s AI-powered SmartVista Fraud Management solution. This system monitors and protects transactions across all channels, including ATMs, point-of-sale terminals, and e-commerce platforms. The project’s next phases are set to introduce virtual cards, cardless withdrawals, and UPI card acceptance, alongside new dedicated merchant portals.
"The successful migration in Fiji gives us a modern and scalable platform to strengthen card issuing, improve customer services and support our future growth,"
Pierre-Antoine Vallet, Deputy CEO and Chief Financial and Information Officer at BRED Bank Fiji

What FF News has reported before
FF News has closely followed BPC's expansion across the APAC region and beyond. In September 2026, we covered the initial stages of this project in BRED Bank Fiji Modernises Payments with BPC SmartVista Cloud Migration. This followed BPC's recognition for its global infrastructure at the Asian Banking & Finance FinTech Awards. The scale of BPC's migration capabilities was also highlighted when Meezan Bank moved 7.5 million cards to SmartVista in Pakistan. Additionally, we reported on BPC's work in Sri Lanka, where they launched an eight-language multilingual ATM network with DFCC Bank.
What this means
The migration highlights a broader industry trend where regional banks are bypassing incremental updates in favor of full-scale cloud transformations. By adopting a platform that handles both issuing and acquiring, BRED Bank Fiji is reducing the technical debt that often hampers smaller market players. This move puts significant pressure on other Pacific financial institutions to modernize or risk losing merchant volume to more agile, multi-currency-capable competitors. The inclusion of AI-driven fraud management also suggests that security is no longer a back-office concern but a front-end competitive advantage. The industry must now watch how quickly these cloud-native features, such as virtual cards and UPI acceptance, are actually rolled out to consumers.
