BENEFIT and FLOOSS have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to explore the integration of Nano financing into the BenefitPay platform. For fintech professionals, this move signals a significant shift toward embedded micro-lending in Bahrain, leveraging a national digital wallet to address immediate liquidity needs through instant, small-ticket, Sharia-compliant credit.

What was announced

The agreement, signed at the Fintech Forward 2026 forum in Bahrain, establishes a framework for BENEFIT and FLOOSS to explore the introduction of "Nano financing" via the BenefitPay application. This initiative is designed to provide individuals with instant, small-ticket financing to manage everyday liquidity requirements. The collaboration seeks to combine BENEFIT’s established infrastructure in electronic financial transactions with the specialized digital consumer financing expertise of FLOOSS.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was formalized during the event held on 7–8 October at Exhibition World Bahrain. Fintech Forward 2026, themed “Finance in the Age of Intelligent Infrastructure,” is a major industry gathering hosted by the Bahrain Economic Development Board and supported by the Central Bank of Bahrain. The proposed service would be Sharia-compliant, aligning with the regional demand for ethical financial products. While the MoU sets the stage for technical assessment and potential integration, the final implementation remains subject to further arrangements agreed between both parties. The signing was conducted by Abdulwahed AlJanahi, Chief Executive of BENEFIT, and Fawaz Ghazal, Group Chief Executive Officer of FLOOSS. The initiative aims to address a broader range of user needs within a seamless digital experience, reflecting evolving consumer expectations for flexible financial management.

"Our partnership with BENEFIT creates an opportunity to bring FLOOSS financing closer to customers through one of Bahrain’s most widely used digital platforms. By combining BENEFIT’s reach with our digital financing capabilities, we can explore new ways to make Sharia-compliant financing more accessible and relevant to customers’ everyday needs. This is an important step in expanding how and where customers can access FLOOSS."

The companies involved

BENEFIT is the primary driver of Bahrain’s electronic financial transaction landscape. As the operator of BenefitPay, the national electronic wallet, the company has become central to the Kingdom’s push toward a cashless society. BENEFIT has a history of high-level collaborations to expand its ecosystem, having previously engaged with global giants like Mastercard to enhance payment innovation and financial inclusion. Its role extends beyond simple payments, acting as a foundational layer for the country’s fintech infrastructure and supporting the national agenda for digital transformation.

FLOOSS operates as a digital consumer financing platform in Bahrain, focusing on providing accessible credit solutions through a digital-first approach. The company has positioned itself as a specialist in Sharia-compliant financing, catering to a market that demands both speed and religious compliance. FLOOSS has previously been recognized for its role in Bahrain’s open banking ecosystem, working alongside other infrastructure providers to streamline how consumers interact with credit. Together, these two companies represent a powerful combination of national-scale distribution and specialized lending technology, aiming to bridge the gap between traditional banking and modern consumer expectations.

What FF News has reported before

FF News has closely followed the evolution of Bahrain’s fintech ecosystem and the growth of the BenefitPay platform. In late 2024, we reported on how Bahrain Leads Global Innovation in Open Banking with The BENEFIT Company, Tarabut and FLOOSS, highlighting the early synergies between these organizations. Earlier that year, we covered how Mastercard Partners with The BENEFIT Company to Drive Payment Innovation and Financial Inclusion in Bahrain.

More recently, our coverage has focused on the technical expansion of BENEFIT’s services. In 2025, we detailed the move to launch Alipay+ in Bahrain through a partnership with Ant International. This was followed by the announcement that FOO and BENEFIT Hit 100-Feature Milestone to Advance Bahrain’s National Wallet BenefitPay, illustrating the rapid pace of development for the application that will now explore hosting nano-financing services.

What this means

The introduction of nano-financing into a national wallet marks a significant maturation of the "super-app" concept in the Middle East. By embedding small-ticket credit at the point of transaction, BENEFIT and FLOOSS are moving beyond the traditional silos of banking and payments. This development puts immediate pressure on traditional retail banks, which often struggle to offer the speed and low-friction experience required for micro-loans. The industry must now consider how the widespread availability of instant credit will impact consumer debt profiles and whether existing regulatory frameworks for Sharia-compliant lending are prepared for the high-velocity nature of nano-financing. It is a clear signal that the next battleground in fintech is the ownership of daily liquidity.
