FOO and BENEFIT Hit 100-Feature Milestone to Advance Bahrain’s National Wallet BenefitPay
27 August 2026

FOO and BENEFIT have reached a significant operational milestone in their partnership, completing 100 technical change requests for BenefitPay, Bahrain’s national digital wallet. For fintech professionals, this highlights the scale of continuous integration required to maintain a market-leading super-app that processes billions of transactions while supporting a nation’s transition toward a cashless economy.
What was announced
The collaboration between FOO and BENEFIT has reached a new maturity level with the delivery of 100 Change Requests (CRs), representing a sustained period of iterative development for the BenefitPay platform. BenefitPay currently serves as the primary fintech ecosystem in the Kingdom of Bahrain, boasting over 1.3 million active subscribers. The platform’s scale is significant, recording 1.7 million daily app visits and having processed more than 1.9 billion transactions through the Fawri, Fawri+, and Fawateer systems.
As the primary technology provider, FOO has implemented a comprehensive Digital Wallet and Digital Merchant Platform. The recent technical updates include a complete UI/UX redesign, enhanced backend integrations, and the implementation of advanced security protocols. A key functional addition is the ability for users to access personal QR codes directly from the application’s homepage, facilitating faster peer-to-peer transfers and merchant payments.
The platform now integrates more than 20 distinct financial services. These include international remittances, expense splitting, multi-recipient fund distribution, and the digitization of paper cheques. Payment methods supported within the app encompass QR codes, Tap and Go, online checkout, and in-app services. Security is managed through FOO’s AI-powered identity verification for customer onboarding and tokenization technology for credit, debit, and prepaid cards, ensuring sensitive data is replaced by secure digital tokens during contactless transactions.
"The pace of development achieved through this partnership reflects the strong alignment, mutual trust and close collaboration between our teams. Together, we have established the capabilities needed to continually advance BenefitPay and deliver secure, innovative digital solutions that respond to evolving customer needs. Bahrain’s financial services sector is among the most advanced in the GCC, and we remain committed to introducing new capabilities that support the Kingdom’s digital transformation."
Mr. Yousif Al Nefaie, Deputy Chief Executive of Business Development and Services at BENEFIT.
The companies involved
BENEFIT is the leading innovator in fintech and electronic financial transaction services within the Kingdom of Bahrain. The company plays a central role in the nation's financial infrastructure, providing the rails for essential payment services and driving the digital transformation of the local economy. Its flagship product, BenefitPay, has become the most widely adopted fintech platform in the country, serving as a benchmark for national wallet initiatives in the GCC region.
FOO is a B2B fintech solutions provider headquartered in the UAE. The company specializes in providing white-label digital wallet platforms and modular financial technology that allows institutions to deploy scalable payment ecosystems. Led by Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer Ghady Rayess, FOO focuses on streamlining complex financial transactions through advanced digital solutions, including AI-driven identity verification and secure tokenization. The firm has established itself as a key technical partner for major financial institutions across the Middle East, helping them navigate the rapidly evolving digital landscape by providing the underlying architecture for modern mobile banking and payment applications.
What this means
The completion of 100 technical iterations on a single national platform signals a shift in how regional fintech leaders approach product lifecycles. Rather than static deployments, the "super-app" model in the GCC now demands constant evolution to maintain user engagement. This puts immense pressure on legacy providers who cannot match the agility of modular, white-label specialists. The sheer volume of transactions—nearly 2 billion—demonstrates that Bahrain has successfully moved past the adoption phase into a high-velocity digital economy. The industry must now watch whether this collaborative model between a national utility and a private tech provider becomes the standard blueprint for other markets in the region looking to phase out physical currency and paper cheques.
