Press Release: Tria Integrates Robinhood Chain to Enable Real-World Asset Spending via Tria Card | Featured Image by FF News

Tria has integrated Robinhood Chain into its self-custodial neofinance platform, bridging tokenized real-world assets with global payment rails. For fintech professionals, this move signals a critical shift in how tokenized equities can be utilized, moving them from static holdings to spendable liquidity across 150 countries without sacrificing user custody.

What was announced

Tria, a self-custodial neofinance platform, has officially launched support for Robinhood Chain, an Ethereum Layer 2 network built on the Arbitrum platform. This integration enables users to manage supported Robinhood Chain assets—specifically tokenized equities—within their own controlled wallets while utilizing Tria’s BestPath routing technology. BestPath automates the complexities of cross-chain movement, allowing users to transfer assets without manually selecting bridges or managing multiple gas tokens.

A primary feature of this partnership is the ability to route Robinhood Chain assets to top up the Tria Card. This allows users to spend the value of their tokenized holdings at merchants in over 150 countries, offering up to 6% cashback on eligible purchases. Crucially, the system does not require users to take out collateralized loans against their portfolios; instead, they maintain full control of their assets until the moment of exchange or spend.

Robinhood Chain, which saw its public mainnet launch on July 1, was designed specifically for real-world assets (RWAs). The network has already demonstrated significant traction, averaging $29.7 million in daily decentralized-exchange volume for tokenized equities during a one-week period in late July. This volume surpassed the combined activity of Solana-based xStocks and Backpack Sunrise during the same timeframe. Robinhood Stock Tokens are currently available via the Robinhood Wallet in more than 120 countries.

"Tokenization becomes much more powerful when assets can move freely beyond the environment where they were issued. Robinhood Chain is bringing real-world assets onchain at meaningful scale. Tria gives users a self-custodial way to connect those assets to the rest of their financial lives—whether that means moving them across chains or ultimately using supported assets for everyday spending."

The companies involved

Tria is a neofinance platform focused on self-custodial solutions that bridge the gap between decentralized finance and traditional consumer payments. By focusing on "chain-invisible" infrastructure, the company aims to reduce the technical friction associated with managing assets across disparate blockchain networks.

Robinhood is a major financial services provider that has aggressively expanded into the digital asset space. Its Robinhood Chain is a purpose-built Layer 2 network leveraging Arbitrum technology to facilitate the trading and ownership of tokenized equities. The network launched with a robust ecosystem of partners, including Uniswap for decentralized exchange services, Chainlink for oracle infrastructure, and BitGo for institutional-grade security and custody solutions. By utilizing the Arbitrum stack, Robinhood Chain benefits from the security of the Ethereum mainnet while providing the high throughput and low costs required for high-volume equity trading. The competitive landscape for these assets includes networks like Solana, which also hosts various tokenized stock platforms.

What this means

This integration is a direct challenge to the "walled garden" approach of traditional brokerage firms. By allowing tokenized stocks to flow into a payment card ecosystem, Tria and Robinhood are effectively turning long-term investments into liquid cash without the need for a bank intermediary. This puts significant pressure on traditional neobanks and legacy brokers who rely on keeping assets within their own proprietary ecosystems to generate fees. The success of this move depends on the continued regulatory acceptance of tokenized equities across the 120+ countries where Robinhood operates. Watch for whether other Layer 2 networks can match the specific RWA volume Robinhood Chain has captured in its first month.
