Kunfupay and EBANX have launched Yape On-File in Peru, introducing a tokenised, one-click checkout solution for the rapidly expanding digital creator economy. This integration addresses a critical gap in the Peruvian market, where 77% of adults use the Yape digital wallet while only 4% hold the international credit cards typically required for global digital services.

What was announced

The launch of Yape On-File marks a significant technical shift in how digital creators manage recurring revenue in Latin America. By securely tokenising user credentials after an initial purchase, the solution allows for a frictionless, one-click experience for all subsequent transactions. This model is specifically designed for Kunfupay’s user base, which includes online educators, subscription-based businesses, and community owners who rely on consistent audience retention.

The impact of the integration was immediate. Within four months of its debut, Yape On-File drove a 46% revenue uplift for Kunfupay in Peru. The solution now accounts for 67% of the platform’s total processed volume (TPV) in the country, maintaining a high approval rate of 95%. This success is attributed to the high penetration of Yape in a market where nine out of ten users of alternative payment methods (APMs) do not possess a traditional bank card.

The partnership between EBANX and Kunfupay, which has been active since February 2025, now spans eight Latin American markets: Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Ecuador, and Bolivia. Beyond Peru’s Yape, the infrastructure supports Brazil’s Pix, Mexico’s OXXO Pay, and Colombia’s Nequi. The system allows creators to receive payments in their own currency while audiences pay in local denominations, covering various APMs including bank transfers and local card networks like Elo, Carnet, and Naranja.

"Beyond the wallet’s penetration, Yape On-File enables a frictionless, one-click checkout for every subsequent payment by securely tokenising users’ credentials after the first purchase. This is a transformative model for a platform like Kunfupay, where creators need seamless recurring transactions to retain their audiences."

The companies involved

Kunfupay operates as a financial operating system tailored for digital creators and online businesses targeting global audiences. Based in Barcelona and Curitiba, the company provides the infrastructure necessary for creators to monetise content through courses, memberships, and subscriptions across diverse geographical borders. It acts as a bridge between creators and the complex payment landscapes of emerging markets.

EBANX is a global technology firm specialising in payment solutions for emerging markets. With a deep footprint in Latin America, the company has become a primary gateway for international businesses looking to access consumers in high-growth regions. FF News has tracked EBANX’s expansion extensively, noting its role in connecting global merchants to local payment preferences. The company recently strengthened its leadership by appointing a Chief Product Officer to lead global strategy from Singapore, reflecting its move toward a more globalised operational structure.

Yape is Peru’s dominant digital wallet, serving as a primary financial tool for the vast majority of the country's adult population. Owned by BCP (Banco de Crédito del Perú), it has evolved from a simple peer-to-peer transfer app into a comprehensive payment ecosystem that is now essential for merchant conversion in the region.

What FF News has reported before

FF News has closely followed the evolution of alternative payment methods in Latin America and EBANX’s strategic positioning within that shift. In April 2026, the publication detailed how EBANX Expands Recurring Alternative Payments Offering, Unlocks a 1 Billion User Potential Across 12 Emerging Markets, a move that set the stage for the current tokenisation efforts in Peru. Earlier that year, reports highlighted how Digital Services Power Cross-border Trade as Companies Pivot Beyond Traditional Corridors, emphasizing the move away from traditional banking rails.

The leadership transition at the firm was also a point of focus when EBANX Appoints Eduardo De Abreu as Chief Product Officer to Lead Global Product Strategy From Singapore. Additionally, the competitive landscape for Yape integrations was highlighted when OKTO PAYMENTS Directly Integrates With Yape to Boost Merchant Conversion in Peru, demonstrating the growing demand for direct access to Peru's leading digital wallet.

What this means

The success of Yape On-File signals a major shift in the "subscription economy" for emerging markets. For years, the recurring revenue model was gated by credit card penetration, effectively locking out millions of consumers in regions like Latin America. By bringing "on-file" tokenisation to a digital wallet, EBANX and Kunfupay are proving that the subscription model can thrive without traditional banking infrastructure. This puts immense pressure on legacy card networks to justify their fees in markets where wallets like Yape and Pix offer higher approval rates and better consumer reach. The industry must now consider if the "wallet-first" approach will become the standard for all digital commerce in the Global South.
