Corpay Expands AI Agent Suite to Automate Corporate Spend and Accounting Workflows
By Lauren Towner · 25 September 2026

Corpay has expanded its suite of specialized AI agents within the Corpay Complete platform, introducing new tools for spend analysis, voice-activated expense management, and automated accounting coding. For fintech professionals, this move signals a shift from general-purpose AI toward task-specific "agentic" workflows designed to automate high-friction back-office finance tasks with enterprise-grade controls.
What was announced
Corpay is increasing the headcount of its "AI agent team" integrated into Corpay Complete, a unified platform that brings spend data, workflows, and payments together in one place. This expansion follows the April introduction of the company's first AI Virtual Assistant Agent and the July launch of Agent Card, which provided a secure method for AI agents to generate and use virtual cards within existing payment controls. The new agents are designed to understand spend patterns, execute manual tasks, and assist businesses in taking action across corporate, fleet, and vendor payment streams.
The three new agents introduced to the roster include:
- The Embedded Insights Agent: This tool assists administrators by analyzing spend data to automatically flag anomalies, eliminating the requirement for manual report generation.
- The AI Voice Assistant Agent: In addition to answering questions about card status and transactions in plain language, this agent can create and complete expense reports via voice commands.
- The Accounting Coding Agent: This agent automatically codes transactions for card administrators, assigning them to the appropriate general ledger (GL) account, tax code, and cost center.
These capabilities are rolling out to eligible Corpay Complete customers this month, with more agents currently on the way. Every agent is built to operate within the finance-grade controls and audit visibility standards already utilized by finance teams. By focusing on single-purpose agents rather than a monolithic system, the company aims to provide added efficiency without requiring users to adopt entirely new systems or workflows.
"We didn't set out to build one AI agent that claims to do everything well. Businesses are looking for agents they can trust to do the work accurately and securely. There's no new system to learn. It's a team of agents that works the way you already do, with added efficiency to help your business save more time and money."

The companies involved
Corpay is an S&P 500 company that operates as a global spend management firm. The company provides three primary B2B solution sets: Spend Management, which offers corporate and virtual card programs alongside procure-to-pay automation; Cross-Border, which manages foreign currency conversion and the establishment of foreign bank accounts; and Vehicle Solutions, which provides controls for fuel, tolls, parking, and related vehicle expenses. The company’s core value proposition is built on the principle that increased spend control leads to reduced corporate expenditure.
Mastercard is a global technology company in the payments industry, providing the network infrastructure that powers many of the commercial card solutions utilized by Corpay. Mastercard’s involvement in the B2B space has increasingly focused on digital transformation and the integration of advanced security features into traditional payment rails. The partnership between these entities is often reflected in products like the Corpay Mastercard, which combines Corpay’s spend management software with Mastercard’s global acceptance and security protocols. Mastercard continues to play a pivotal role in the market by enabling "agentic commerce," where AI agents can securely interact with payment networks.

What this means
The transition from AI as a "chatbot" to AI as an "agent" marks a significant maturation in the fintech sector. By deploying agents that can actually execute tasks—such as coding a transaction or flagging an anomaly—rather than just summarizing data, Corpay is putting pressure on traditional ERP and accounting software providers. The industry is moving toward a model where the payment method itself is intelligent, potentially making manual expense management obsolete. However, this shift raises critical questions regarding liability and oversight; as agents gain the autonomy to "do the work," the burden on finance teams shifts from execution to high-level auditing and exception management. This move signals that the next battleground for spend management is no longer just about the card, but about the intelligence behind the transaction.
