COLIBRIX ONE Partners with Vivox AI to Accelerate Merchant Onboarding via Explainable AI
By Lauren Towner · 20 October 2026

COLIBRIX ONE has integrated Vivox AI’s explainable AI agents to automate its know-your-business (KYB) processes, addressing the bottleneck of merchant onboarding. For fintechs, the move signals a shift toward "human-in-the-loop" automation to satisfy heightening UK and EU regulatory scrutiny while maintaining the speed necessary to compete in the global e-commerce market.
What was announced
Under a new multi-year agreement, the global financial infrastructure platform will deploy AI agents to verify corporate documents, map complex ownership structures, and conduct sanctions and adverse media screening. The system is designed to provide a clear audit trail for every finding, ensuring that COLIBRIX ONE’s compliance analysts can review and sign off on each case with full transparency. Each AI-driven finding is traceable to its source, a feature intended to satisfy the requirements of financial crime regulators.
The automation targets the most time-consuming aspect of merchant due diligence: identifying ultimate beneficial owners, shareholders, and directors across multiple jurisdictions. Vivox AI’s technology currently analyses corporate registries and documents in more than 155 countries. By generating comprehensive customer and enhanced due diligence reports, the platform aims to replicate efficiencies seen in previous deployments. In a deployment at the payments firm TransferMate earlier this year, due diligence time reportedly fell from approximately 60 minutes to under 15 minutes per case, while screening alerts dropped by 86 percent.
The initial rollout focuses on merchant onboarding within the United Kingdom and the European Union. The companies have outlined plans to extend this capability to ongoing monitoring and additional entities in 2027.
The companies involved
COLIBRIX ONE is a commercial brand operating within the Mellifera group, with its parent entity being Mellifera Operations Limited. The platform’s regulatory footprint includes Colibrix Limited, which is authorised by the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) as an electronic money institution, and Mellifera Kartiera Limited, which is authorised by the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA). As a principal member of both Visa and Mastercard, the firm provides a suite of services including card acquiring for one-time and recurring transactions, multi-currency current accounts with dedicated named IBANs, and global payout capabilities for digital businesses.
Vivox AI specializes in explainable AI agents designed for the financial sector. The company's focus is on automating document-heavy compliance tasks while maintaining an audit trail that satisfies regulatory requirements. By mapping ownership structures and identifying directors and shareholders automatically across more than 155 countries, the firm positions itself as a solution for payment and e-money firms facing high onboarding volumes and increased pressure from financial crime regulators in the UK and EU.
What FF News has reported before
FF News has previously tracked the expansion of the Mellifera-owned platform’s ecosystem as it seeks to broaden its merchant services. In October 2026, the publication reported on how COLIBRIX ONE and Yuno Partner to Scale Global Subscription Payments for European Merchants. That collaboration focused on integrating Yuno’s orchestration technology to streamline global payment methods and improve checkout conversions for merchants handling recurring transactions. The current move into AI-driven KYB automation represents a shift in focus from the front-end payment experience to the back-end compliance infrastructure required to support that scale.
What this means
This partnership highlights the growing tension between rapid merchant acquisition and the tightening grip of UK and EU regulators on electronic money institutions. Manual KYB is no longer a viable scaling strategy for platforms handling complex, multi-jurisdictional corporate structures. By adopting "explainable" AI, COLIBRIX ONE is attempting to solve the "black box" problem that often makes automated compliance tools a liability during regulatory audits. The industry is moving toward a model where AI does the heavy lifting of data gathering, but the final liability remains firmly with human analysts. This shift puts pressure on traditional compliance providers who rely on manual verification or less transparent automated systems.
