Basware to Acquire Trustpair to Launch Industry-First End-to-End Invoice Lifecycle Assurance
26 August 2026

Basware has signed a binding agreement to acquire Trustpair, a move that integrates payment fraud prevention directly into the invoice lifecycle. For fintech professionals, this represents a significant consolidation in the procure-to-pay space, addressing the critical security gap between approving a legitimate invoice and ensuring the subsequent payment reaches the correct bank account.
What was announced
The acquisition, expected to close later in 2026, aims to create the industry’s first end-to-end invoice lifecycle assurance platform. By combining Basware’s invoice processing capabilities with Trustpair’s fraud prevention technology, the unified offering will validate that an invoice is authentic and that the payment destination belongs to the intended supplier. Trustpair will continue to operate and go to market independently as a Basware company, maintaining its open ecosystem strategy.
The deal comes at a time of heightened risk; the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners reports that 75% of anti-fraud professionals have seen an increase in generative AI-driven document fraud over the last two years. Furthermore, regulatory pressure is mounting. In the US, Nacha introduced tighter rules in 2026 requiring businesses paying via ACH to have robust processes for detecting unauthorized payments, such as those resulting from business email compromise. Trustpair, a Nacha Preferred Partner, currently integrates with major ERP and treasury systems including SAP, Oracle, Coupa, Zycus, Ivalua, Jaggaer, and Kyriba. The integration will allow Trustpair to leverage Basware’s massive dataset, which encompasses 2.5 billion invoices and 20 million suppliers, to enhance its risk validation models.
"AI may be the most powerful productivity tool of our generation. Unfortunately, it is also becoming one of the most powerful tools ever placed in the hands of criminals. A finance team can do everything right on the invoice and still send the money to the wrong bank account. Basware has spent more than 40 years protecting the invoice. Bringing Basware and Trustpair together extends that protection through the payment itself. Together, we will offer the first end-to-end invoice-to-payment assurance in the market, strengthening Financial Integrity and Continuous Compliance across the invoice lifecycle."
Jason Kurtz, CEO at Basware.
The companies involved
Basware is a market leader in Invoice Lifecycle Management, providing tools that automate and secure the flow of financial documents. The company is backed by Accel-KKR, a global technology-focused investment firm. This acquisition follows a period of aggressive expansion for Basware, which acquired Glantus, AP Matching, and Redmap between 2023 and 2025 to bolster its duplicate detection and invoice fraud capabilities.
Trustpair, founded in 2017, specializes in payment fraud prevention by validating supplier account ownership during onboarding and before payment authorization. The company has been supported by investors including Axeleo Capital, Breega, and Tikehau Capital, all of whom will continue to support the firm following the acquisition. Trustpair’s platform is designed to sit within existing finance environments, providing a layer of security that prevents funds from being diverted to fraudulent accounts through social engineering or compromised credentials.
What FF News has reported before
FF News has closely followed Basware’s recent technological advancements, including the report Basware Leverages $10 Trillion in Transaction Data to Launch AI Benchmarking Tool for CFOs, which highlighted the company's focus on data-driven insights. We have also covered the broader ecosystem in which these companies operate, such as in Quantinuum and Oracle Partner to Bring Helios Quantum Computing to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, reflecting the infrastructure Trustpair integrates with, and JMR Infotech to Showcase AI-Native Banking and Embedded Finance Solutions at WFIS 2026 Philippines, which underscores the global shift toward AI-native financial security.
What this means
This acquisition signals a shift in the market from reactive fraud detection to proactive, lifecycle-integrated assurance. By merging invoice approval with bank account validation, Basware is putting pressure on traditional ERP providers and standalone AP automation tools that lack native, real-time fraud prevention. The industry is moving toward a "Perfect Invoice" standard where authenticity is not just assumed but verified at every touchpoint. As AI-powered impersonation becomes more sophisticated, the sector must grapple with whether siloed security tools are sufficient. This deal suggests that for large enterprises, the future of financial integrity lies in the deep integration of procurement data and payment validation.
