AEON Launches Crypto Settlement Layer in Colombia via Bre-B Integration
By Lauren Towner · 17 August 2026

AEON has integrated Colombia’s national instant payment network, Bre-B, into its settlement infrastructure, bridging the gap between digital assets and local fiat commerce. For fintech professionals, this move signals a critical shift in Latin American payments, allowing crypto-native liquidity to flow directly into a government-backed, real-time retail payment standard.
What was announced
AEON has officially expanded its payment infrastructure into Colombia by integrating with Bre-B, the country’s interoperable instant payment system. This technical bridge allows cryptocurrency holders to pay merchants across Colombia by scanning standard Bre-B QR codes. While the consumer spends digital assets, AEON handles the backend conversion and settles the transaction for the merchant in Colombian Pesos (COP).
The service is delivered through AEON Pay, which supports a wide array of entry points including direct on-chain transfers and balances held in the AEON Wallet. Furthermore, the infrastructure is compatible with major global exchange ecosystems and wallets, including Binance Wallet, Bitget Wallet, OKX Wallet, Solana Pay, TokenPocket, KuCoin, and Bybit. By tapping into Bre-B, AEON gains access to a unified network designed to facilitate real-time transfers across all participating Colombian banks and digital wallets.
This expansion follows AEON’s established presence in Southeast Asia and Africa. The company’s broader network currently supports payments at over 50 million merchants and 10,000 global brands, including major retail names like McDonald’s, Pizza Hut, and UNIQLO. The integration is specifically designed to support the "agentic economy," providing the necessary rails for autonomous AI agents to interact with local fiat-based services such as transportation, subscriptions, and retail purchases.
"As AI agents evolve from information assistants into autonomous economic participants, access to local payment infrastructure is becoming a foundational requirement for real-world commerce. Every new payment network integrated into AEON extends the settlement layer that enables both users and future AI agents to transact seamlessly through the payment methods already embedded in local economies."

The companies involved
AEON operates as a settlement layer specifically designed for the "agentic economy," focusing on connecting digital assets to real-world commerce through Telegram MiniApps and wallet dApps. The company aims to provide the infrastructure that allows both human users and AI agents to transact using local payment methods without requiring merchants to alter their existing operations.
Bre-B is the national instant payment system of Colombia, developed and overseen by the Banco de la República, the country's central bank. It was created to unify the fragmented landscape of real-time transfers and QR-based payments, ensuring interoperability between traditional banks and emerging digital wallets. In this ecosystem, AEON acts as a bridge for global crypto platforms like Binance, one of the world's largest digital asset exchanges, and Bitget, a prominent crypto trading platform. Other participants in the AEON ecosystem include Solana Pay, the decentralized payment protocol built on the Solana blockchain, and major retail entities like the global fast-food chains McDonald's and Pizza Hut, and the Japanese apparel retailer UNIQLO.

What this means
This integration is a sophisticated play for the future of automated commerce. By plugging into Bre-B, AEON isn't just facilitating crypto-to-fiat retail; it is positioning itself as the essential middleware for AI agents that need to operate in the physical world. While many firms focus on P2P crypto transfers, AEON’s focus on local settlement layers like Colombia’s national system puts pressure on traditional payment processors who have been slow to adopt programmable money. The real test will be whether AI-driven transaction volume can scale fast enough to justify these deep infrastructure integrations, but for now, AEON has secured a significant first-mover advantage in the Colombian market.
