Press Release: Wavo Secures €10M Funding Round to Accelerate Inventory Financing Across Europe | Featured Image by FF News

French fintech Wavo has secured €10 million in new funding to scale its inventory-based financing platform. For fintech professionals, this highlights the growing demand for non-dilutive capital solutions that solve the "growth paradox," where successful companies face liquidity crises because their cash is tied up in the very inventory needed to drive sales.

What was announced

Wavo’s €10 million funding round was supported by prominent investors, including the global investment group Eurazeo. The primary objective of this capital injection is to accelerate the company's footprint within the French market while preparing for a broader international rollout. Specifically, the firm is targeting expansion into Northern Europe and is exploring potential entry into the United Kingdom. This international push is designed to bring their alternative financing model to a wider array of European enterprises struggling with capital allocation.

The financing model offered by Wavo is designed to transform stagnant stock into a lever for growth. By evaluating a company’s inventory using proprietary tools, Wavo provides liquidity in as little as 48 hours. This service is aimed at businesses in sectors such as retail, manufacturing, mobility, energy, and professional equipment. To date, the company has financed €35 million worth of inventory, which it reports has facilitated nearly €100 million in sales for its client base. The solution is particularly effective in scenarios involving business takeovers, the introduction of new product lines, or managing the cash flow strain of seasonal peaks.

The funds will also be used to bolster recruitment and increase investment in the company's underlying technology. Currently, Wavo’s financing operations typically range from €200,000 to €2 million per client. A key goal following this raise is to double these intervention amounts, allowing the firm to support larger-scale business needs. By increasing the cap on individual operations, the company aims to become a reference point for stock portage and inventory financing across the continent.

"Cette levée de 10 millions d’euros auprès de fonds clés, comme Eurazeo, nous permet d’accélérer notre développement en France et d’aider davantage d’entreprises à se financer, sans recourir à la dette. Nos opérations sont aujourd’hui comprises entre 200 000 et 2 millions d’euros par entreprise, notre objectif : doubler ces montants !"

Wavo

The companies involved

Wavo is a fintech specialist that addresses the specific liquidity challenges faced by growing enterprises through stock financing and inventory portage. By focusing on the intrinsic value of physical goods rather than traditional credit scores alone, the company provides an alternative to conventional bank debt. Its model is built on the premise that inventory should be treated as a liquid asset rather than a sunk cost, particularly for companies scaling rapidly in capital-intensive industries like retail and energy. The firm positions itself as a strategic partner that helps companies avoid blocking their growth cycles due to immobilized treasury.

Eurazeo, a key investor in this round, is a leading global investment firm with a significant presence in the European and North American markets. Headquartered in Paris, Eurazeo manages a wide range of assets for institutional and private clients, with a portfolio that covers private equity, venture capital, and private debt. The firm is known for its focus on high-potential technology and financial services companies, often providing the late-stage venture or growth capital necessary for international scaling. Its participation in Wavo’s funding round signals a strong institutional appetite for alternative lending platforms that utilize asset-backed structures to mitigate risk while providing essential working capital to the SME and mid-market sectors.

What this means

This announcement signals a shift in the alternative lending landscape toward specialized, asset-heavy financing. As traditional corporate lending becomes more restrictive, fintechs that can bridge the gap between physical supply chains and digital finance are becoming indispensable. The move to double intervention amounts suggests that the market for inventory portage is moving up-market, moving beyond small retailers to larger industrial players. The industry should anticipate increased competition in the "working capital as a service" space, as speed of valuation and the ability to handle complex physical logistics become the primary differentiators over traditional interest rates. This model puts pressure on traditional factors and banks to evolve their risk assessment tools for physical assets.
