Stripe has unveiled a suite of tools designed to remove the friction of cross-border commerce for Asian enterprises. By expanding its treasury capabilities and local payment method support, the firm is addressing the high FX fees and regulatory hurdles that often stifle the international growth of digital-first businesses in the region.
What was announced
Stripe introduced several features aimed at helping Asian businesses scale globally without the need for local entities in every market. Central to this is Stripe Managed Payments, which allows businesses to sell digital products in 195 countries. Under this model, Stripe manages indirect tax compliance, dispute resolution, fraud protection, and customer support. By routing transactions through its own global entities, Stripe aims to increase payment success rates for users like Ahrefs and Razer.
To further drive conversion, Stripe’s Adaptive Pricing tool now enables businesses to automatically localise pricing for international shoppers, a move the company claims generates an average 17.8% increase in cross-border revenue. The platform has also expanded its support for regional payment methods, now accepting Samsung Pay, MoMo, GCash, Touch ’n Go, PromptPay, and TrueMoney. Integration for ShopeePay and SPayLater is scheduled to begin across Southeast Asia in Q4.
On the operational side, Singapore-based businesses can currently hold and convert balances in 10 different currencies. Stripe confirmed that in early 2027, it will launch the full Stripe Treasury experience in Singapore. This will allow companies to receive and store funds in SGD, USD, AUD, GBP, and EUR, and pay recipients in nearly 100 countries directly from their dashboard using only an email address.
"We’ve been partnering with Asia’s internet pioneers for a decade and the newest generation are growing at unprecedented speed. We’re expanding our core global infrastructure to accelerate them further."

The companies involved
Stripe is a global financial infrastructure platform that has become a cornerstone of the internet economy. Since its launch in Asia ten years ago, its footprint in Singapore has grown to include over 80,000 businesses and solopreneurs. The company provides the underlying technology for global builders such as Supabase and Manus, the latter of which sells into more than 200 countries.
The announcement also highlights a broad network of regional payment partners. This includes MoMo, a leading e-wallet in Vietnam, and TrueMoney, which provides financial services across Southeast Asia. The inclusion of GCash from the Philippines and Malaysia’s Touch 'n Go Group reflects Stripe's strategy to integrate deeply with the fragmented Asian payments landscape. Additionally, the upcoming support for ShopeePay and the buy-now-pay-later service SPayLater connects Stripe users to one of the largest e-commerce ecosystems in the region. These integrations are vital for merchants targeting the more than six in ten Singapore-based Stripe users who currently sell to international markets.
What FF News has reported before
FF News has closely followed Stripe’s aggressive expansion of its financial services stack. We recently reported on how Stripe Treasury launches in Australia to unify global money management and payments, a move that mirrors the upcoming Singapore rollout. The firm’s technological evolution was also highlighted when Stripe acquires OpenRouter to power AI token optimization and economic infrastructure. Furthermore, the influence of Stripe’s leadership in the wider fintech sector was noted when KAST appoints Stripe veteran Connor Fitzgerald as U.S. General Manager to drive market expansion.
What this means
This move signals a shift in the competitive landscape for global merchant acquirers. By bundling tax compliance and local entity benefits into "Managed Payments," Stripe is moving beyond simple transaction processing to become a comprehensive outsourced operations layer. This puts significant pressure on traditional banks and legacy payment providers in Asia that still rely on slow, expensive SWIFT transfers and complex local licensing requirements. The real test for the industry will be whether competitors can match this level of vertical integration. As businesses increasingly expect "instant" global treasury functions, the traditional barriers between domestic and international commerce are rapidly dissolving, leaving little room for providers who cannot automate the regulatory and FX burden.
