TransferGo and UNITED24 Launch 'Transfers That Unite' to Rebuild Ukrainian Vocational Schools
By Lauren Towner · 25 August 2026

TransferGo and UNITED24 have launched the "Transfers That Unite" campaign to fund the restoration of vocational education in Ukraine. By integrating charitable giving directly into the cross-border payment flow, the initiative provides fintech professionals a clear template for how transactional volume can be leveraged for high-impact social responsibility in conflict-affected regions.
What was announced
The "Transfers That Unite" campaign is a strategic collaboration between the global fintech firm TransferGo and UNITED24, the official fundraising platform for Ukraine. The initiative is specifically designed to equip vocational schools across Ukraine, providing the necessary tools and resources for students who will eventually lead the country’s reconstruction efforts. The campaign launched to coincide with Ukraine’s Independence Day and is scheduled to run between August and October 2026.
The mechanism of the campaign is tied directly to user activity. For every IBAN transfer sent to Ukraine through the TransferGo platform during this period, the company will donate an additional 0.2% of the total transaction amount to UNITED24’s Education and Science program. These funds are earmarked for vocational schools based on their most urgent requirements. The initiative follows a critical need identified by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine; as of October 2025, 21 vocational schools had been completely destroyed and 420 damaged due to ongoing attacks on educational infrastructure.
This is not the first time these entities have collaborated. In 2025, TransferGo worked alongside UNITED24 and Visa on the "Every Transfer Matters" campaign. That previous effort successfully raised over $250,000, which was used to purchase essential power generators for seven vocational schools located in Zaporizhzhia. The current campaign seeks to build on that momentum by expanding the scope of support to more institutions nationwide.
"Ukraine’s recovery depends on skilled people, and vocational education plays a key role in preparing them. Our colleges are training the professionals who will rebuild the country, strengthen its economy and help meet the growing demand for skilled workers. Partnerships like this show that support for Ukraine can take many forms - even an everyday money transfer can help improve learning conditions and give students the skills and tools they need to build Ukraine’s future. We are grateful to UNITED24 and TransferGo for supporting Ukrainian vocational education and our students."
Dmytro Zavgorodnii, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine.
The companies involved
TransferGo is a global fintech company that focuses on providing international money transfers for the "world on the move." The firm has established itself as a significant player in the remittance space, particularly for migrant workers and businesses requiring fast, low-cost cross-border payments. The company was co-founded by Daumantas Dvilinskas, who also serves as CEO. TransferGo has consistently positioned itself as a mission-driven organization, often aligning its corporate social responsibility efforts with the specific needs of the corridors it serves.
UNITED24 was launched by the President of Ukraine as the primary venue for collecting charitable donations in support of the country. It operates several streams of funding, including defense, demining, medical aid, and the Education and Science program involved in this partnership. The platform serves as a central hub for international donors, ensuring transparency and direct allocation of funds to state-verified needs. The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, represented in this initiative by Deputy Minister Dmytro Zavgorodnii, provides the ground-level data and oversight required to ensure that the equipment and funding reach the vocational schools most impacted by the ongoing conflict.
What FF News has reported before
While this specific partnership highlights TransferGo's commitment to the region, FF News has extensively covered the broader payments landscape and the activities of major partners like Visa. Recent reports include Visa, _able, and Onafriq Partner to Expand Visa Flex Credential Across CEMEA Markets, which demonstrates Visa's ongoing expansion of flexible payment credentials in emerging markets. Additionally, the industry has seen significant infrastructure shifts, such as Nium Expands Global Infrastructure with Domestic Card Issuance Launch in the United States and Lithic and Monavate Partner to Streamline Fiat and Digital Asset Card Issuing, reflecting a wider trend of fintechs deepening their domestic and cross-border capabilities.
What this means
This announcement signals a shift in how fintechs approach humanitarian aid, moving away from static "donate" buttons toward embedded, volume-based contributions. By tying donations to IBAN transfers, TransferGo incentivizes the use of formal financial channels for remittances while simultaneously addressing the massive infrastructure deficit in Ukraine’s educational sector. For the wider industry, this puts pressure on other remittance providers to demonstrate similar levels of corridor-specific support. The focus on vocational training is particularly astute; the market is increasingly aware that post-conflict stability relies on technical skills rather than just immediate emergency aid. The success of this 0.2% model will likely be watched by other firms looking to balance profitability with geopolitical engagement.
