Solidgate Expands Polish Payment Capabilities with BLIK Recurring and BLIK Pay Later
By Lauren Towner · 17 August 2026

Solidgate has expanded its integration with Poland’s dominant payment system, BLIK, introducing Recurring and Pay Later functionalities for its merchant network. For fintech professionals, this move signals a critical infrastructure upgrade in one of Europe’s fastest-growing e-commerce markets, enabling seamless subscription models and deferred payment options without the friction of traditional card-based systems.
What was announced
Solidgate merchants operating in Poland can now deploy BLIK Recurring and BLIK Pay Later within their existing payment architecture. This update builds upon Solidgate’s existing support for one-time BLIK transactions, aiming to capture a larger share of the Polish market where BLIK is the default payment method for more than 21 million regular users. Currently, approximately 50% of all online purchases in Poland are processed through this account-to-account mobile system.
The BLIK Recurring feature is designed specifically for subscription-based businesses and auto-charge models. It allows customers to authorize a mandate using a single 6-digit BLIK code from their banking app. Once established, future charges—regardless of frequency or variable amounts—are processed automatically without requiring the customer to re-authenticate for every billing cycle. This eliminates the need for stored card data and reduces checkout abandonment for recurring services.
Simultaneously, BLIK Pay Later introduces a buy-now-pay-later (BNPL) mechanic to the ecosystem. Customers can defer their payments for up to 30 days, confirming the transaction via their banking app. Merchants receive the full funds upfront, while the integration remains backend-only, requiring no new checkout builds for existing Solidgate clients. These features are available immediately upon request through Solidgate account managers.
"Solidgate merchants in Poland can now offer BLIK Recurring and BLIK Pay Later, opening up subscription revenue and higher-value orders inside the setup they already run."
Solidgate
The companies involved
Solidgate is a global payment orchestration platform and service provider that enables businesses to accept payments, optimize conversion rates, and manage recurring billing across diverse geographies. The company focuses on providing a unified infrastructure that reduces the technical overhead for merchants entering new markets, particularly those with high reliance on local payment methods rather than global card schemes.
BLIK is Poland’s leading mobile payment system, functioning as a dominant account-to-account (A2A) network. Launched as a joint venture between Poland's largest banks, it has effectively bypassed traditional credit card dominance in the region. The system is integrated directly into the mobile applications of virtually every major Polish bank, allowing users to generate unique 6-digit codes for online, in-store, and peer-to-peer transactions. By removing the need for redirects or the manual entry of long card numbers, BLIK has become the primary driver of digital commerce growth in the Polish market.
What FF News has reported before
FF News has closely tracked the expansion of BLIK as it moves beyond simple one-time transactions into more complex financial products. We previously covered how OpenAI Integrates BLIK Recurring Payments for ChatGPT Plus Subscriptions via Stripe, a move that validated the demand for A2A subscriptions at a global scale. Additionally, the broader trend of local payment integration was highlighted in our report on how PPRO and BLIK Partner to Launch Agentic Commerce for Local Payments in Poland. These developments underscore a shift where local payment methods (LPMs) are no longer secondary options but essential requirements for international merchants, as seen in our coverage of Airwallex Launches Onsite Local Payment Methods for Shopify to Slash Cart Abandonment.
What this means
This integration is a direct challenge to the traditional dominance of Visa and Mastercard in the subscription economy. By enabling recurring payments via BLIK, Solidgate is allowing merchants to tap into a user base that may be "card-averse" but highly active in mobile banking. The inclusion of a Pay Later option further puts pressure on standalone BNPL providers who lack the native integration that BLIK enjoys within Polish banking apps. For fintech observers, the key takeaway is the continued fragmentation of the global payment landscape; success in Europe now requires deep, native integration into local A2A schemes rather than a one-size-fits-all card strategy.
