Customers Remember How Payments Feel: G+D on Creating Confidence in Saudi Arabia
By Ali Paterson · 17 September 2026

Quick Summary
In Saudi Arabia's fast-moving payments market, the institutions that keep leading are not the ones with the biggest budgets or the newest technology, but the ones that never stop asking how to create a better customer experience tomorrow. G+D's Hussam Nasser explains why creating confidence means a long-term partnership that starts, rather than ends, with the first card issued.
What separates the institutions that keep leading in Saudi Arabia?
Asked by FF News host Ian Horne for one piece of advice on succeeding in the Kingdom, Hussam Nasser, VP Sales Middle East at G+D, declined to call it advice at all. Saudi Arabia, he says, already has some of the most forward-thinking banks, fintechs and financial institutions on a global scale. Instead he offers an observation from 25 years in the payments sector: the leaders are not necessarily the ones with the highest budget, or even the latest technology. They are the ones who keep asking a simple question. How can we create a better experience for our customers tomorrow than we have today? Technology, payment methods and cardholder expectations all evolve, and the institutions that keep listening, innovating and challenging themselves are the ones that continue to set the benchmark.
Why do customers remember the feeling rather than the technology?
Nasser describes G+D's role as helping banks, fintechs and financial institutions turn ideas into secure, premium and future-ready payment experiences. The company does not see itself as simply delivering products or solutions, but as helping customers stay one step ahead. The reason is rooted in how people actually experience payments. "Customers rarely remember the technology behind a payment. They remember how it made them feel," he says. If issuers can create experiences that people trust, enjoy and remember, the job has been done. For card issuers, that shifts the measure of success away from specifications and towards the moment a cardholder uses their card.
What does "creating confidence" mean for G+D's partners?
G+D's slogan, creating confidence, is not only about confidence in technology, according to Nasser. It is the confidence that a bank choosing G+D has a partner that will:
- Listen to what the institution and its customers need.
- Innovate as the market raises the bar.
- Solve challenges as they arise.
- Stand beside them for the long term.
"Our commitment doesn't end with the first card issued, it just starts there," he adds, framing issuance as the beginning of a relationship rather than a completed transaction.
FF NEWS TAKE:
This is a notably restrained pitch for a vendor, and it works because of that. In a market as mature as Saudi Arabia, where banks already lead on digital onboarding and domestic scheme innovation, a supplier lecturing issuers would land badly. Positioning customer feeling as the real product, and the first card as the start of the partnership, is the right tone for institutions choosing long-term payment partners ahead of Money20/20 Middle East.
