SWIVEL has partnered with Kinective to integrate the Kinective Gateway API into its Connect2Core (C2C) transaction hub. This move allows financial institutions to bypass traditional, months-long integration cycles, enabling real-time payment posting and instant visibility for account transactions. For fintech leaders, it represents a significant step in removing the technical friction associated with legacy core banking systems.

What was announced

SWIVEL, a fintech subsidiary of SWBC, is adopting the Kinective Gateway to streamline the onboarding process for its Connect2Core (C2C) hub. C2C is designed as a centralized hub for real-time payment data posting, allowing banks and credit unions to see account transactions the moment they occur. By utilizing Kinective’s advanced API integration platform, SWIVEL aims to provide a standardized connectivity layer that supports faster implementation and enhanced service for its users.

The partnership specifically targets the acceleration of real-time money movement, including SWIVEL Instant Payments via the FedNow® Service and RTP®. Kinective currently serves over 4,300 banks and credit unions, offering a portfolio of integrations with more than 40 core systems and 100 fintech providers. This scale allows SWIVEL to offer its real-time capabilities to a vast network of new financial institutions without the need for the custom, labor-intensive integration work typically required for core connectivity projects.

Existing SWIVEL clients will transition to the new gateway without service interruptions. Additionally, SWIVEL will serve as a Silver sponsor for Kinections26, Kinective’s second annual user conference held at the Omni Nashville Hotel from November 15 to 17. During this event, Kinective is expected to debut the next iteration of its intelligent banking platform, which features a new layer of intelligence designed to address functional challenges faced by banks and credit unions.

"A community financial institution shouldn't need months to stand up real-time payments. Data has to move the moment it happens, not on the next batch cycle. Kinective Gateway removes that barrier for SWIVEL's clients now, so financial institutions can get connected fast, and their members see a payment hit their account the second it happens. That's intelligent banking in practice."

The companies involved

SWIVEL is a Phoenix-based fintech company and a subsidiary of SWBC, specializing in integrated payment solutions for the financial sector. Led by President Amanda Licona-Crocker, the firm focuses on modernizing payment experiences through its proprietary technology, such as the Connect2Core hub. SWIVEL has established a significant presence in the market by bridging the gap between modern payment rails and traditional core processing systems, which are often a hurdle for credit unions and community banks seeking to modernize.

Kinective provides intelligent banking solutions to a massive footprint of over 4,300 financial institutions. The company acts as a critical middleware provider, offering the Kinective Gateway to facilitate seamless communication between diverse fintech applications and the rigid architecture of core banking systems. By maintaining relationships with more than 40 core providers, Kinective has positioned itself as a primary enabler for institutions looking to digitize their operations without undergoing a full core replacement. The company’s influence is underscored by its annual Kinections conference, which serves as a gathering point for its extensive network of bank and credit union clients.

What FF News has reported before

FF News has closely followed SWIVEL’s expansion into the credit union and community banking space. In September 2026, we reported on SWIVEL and Tangenesis Partner to Modernize Delinquent Loan Payments via Weeve Integration, highlighting the company's focus on loan servicing. This followed news that Vikar Technologies Partners with SWIVEL to Power Real-Time Account Opening Funding, a move that streamlined the initial customer onboarding experience. Additionally, the company expanded its reach through the Temenos ecosystem, as detailed in SWIVEL Integrates with Temenos Digital Collector to Drive Borrower Engagement. Kinective’s role in the broader industry landscape was also noted in our coverage of Eltropy Showcases Agentic AI Strategy Across 14 Major Credit Union and Banking Events.

What this means

This partnership signals a shift in how community financial institutions approach the "real-time" mandate. For years, the bottleneck for FedNow and RTP adoption hasn't been the rails themselves, but the "last mile" integration into legacy cores. By leveraging a standardized gateway, SWIVEL is effectively commoditizing core connectivity, putting immense pressure on traditional core providers who have historically profited from high integration fees and long lead times. The industry is moving toward a plug-and-play reality where the core is no longer a barrier to innovation, but a silent utility. The question now is whether legacy vendors will open their ecosystems further or risk being bypassed by these middleware layers.
