SunTec Business Solutions and International Information Technology Co. LLC (IITC) have secured approval from the Oman Tax Authority to operate as an ASP Service Provider. This strategic alliance is designed to facilitate the Sultanate’s transition to the Fawtara e-invoicing mandate, a critical regulatory shift that will impact every VAT-registered business in Oman by 2028.

What was announced

SunTec Business Solutions and IITC have formalized a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly market, implement, and support a compliant e-invoicing solution for Omani enterprises. The partnership centers on the SunTec Xelerate e-Invoicing product, which will be integrated with IITC’s local system-integration capabilities. Together, the firms will deliver an accredited access point that functions as a secure gateway for the exchange of compliant e-invoices within the national Fawtara ecosystem.

The Fawtara program in Oman utilizes a Peppol-based five-corner Continuous Transaction Control (CTC) framework. The rollout is scheduled to begin in August 2026, with a phased expansion intended to cover all VAT-registered businesses by 2028. The mandate is comprehensive, encompassing Business-to-Business (B2B), Business-to-Consumer (B2C), and Business-to-Government (B2G) transaction types. By combining SunTec’s regulatory-compliance technology with IITC’s deep understanding of the Omani market, the alliance aims to provide a scalable, future-ready framework for organizations to meet these new legal requirements while advancing broader digital transformation goals.

"e-Invoicing is not just a regulatory milestone — it is an investment in the financial infrastructure of our clients and the broader Omani economy. As CFO of OHI Group, I see this alliance with SunTec as a natural extension of our commitment to building businesses that are compliant, efficient, and positioned for sustainable growth. We are proud that IITC is at the forefront of this transformation,"

Praveen Kumar, CFO, OHI Group.

What FF News has reported before

FF News has closely monitored the evolving regulatory landscape in the Middle East. We previously covered how the Middle East Faces 11.3 Billion Invoice Digital Shift as E-Invoicing Mandates Take Shape, highlighting the massive scale of this regional transition. In Oman specifically, we reported when ClearTax Secures Oman Tax Authority Accreditation for Fawtara E-Invoicing Rollout, indicating a growing competitive field of service providers. Furthermore, SunTec’s technological standing was recently validated when SunTec Named a Luminary in Corporate Banking by Celent in Enterprise Pricing and Product Management Report, underscoring their capability in handling complex enterprise billing environments.

What this means

This alliance is a calculated move to capture the Omani enterprise market before the August 2026 deadline. By pairing a global technology provider like SunTec with a local heavyweight like IITC, the partnership addresses the two biggest hurdles for Omani firms: technical compliance and local integration support. The Peppol-based five-corner framework is sophisticated, and businesses that delay implementation risk significant operational friction. We expect to see a surge in similar partnerships as the 2028 total-coverage deadline approaches. The pressure is now on smaller, local IT providers to either find global partners or risk being sidelined by accredited heavyweights in the Fawtara ecosystem.
