Fintech platform Rently has secured a $12 million growth credit facility from January Capital to scale its flexible rent payment solutions across Singapore, Hong Kong, and the UAE. This non-dilutive funding allows the startup to manage surging transaction volumes while preserving equity for product development, addressing the significant cash flow pressures faced by tenants in high-cost urban markets.

What was announced

Rently has secured a $12 million growth credit facility provided by January Capital, a technology investment firm focused on high-growth companies across the Asia-Pacific region. This capital is specifically structured to scale alongside Rently’s transaction volumes, which have reached an annualized rental volume exceeding $50 million. Year-to-date, the platform’s volume has grown to nearly three times the levels recorded in the same period of 2025, with more than 2,400 tenants currently utilizing the service.

The facility is designed to expand Rently’s core offerings in its existing markets of Singapore, Hong Kong, and the UAE, while supporting entry into new geographies. In Hong Kong, where the private domestic rental index reached a record 210.3 in August 2026, Rently has processed HKD 62.1 million ($8.0 million) in transactions since its launch in July 2026. The platform provides tenants with three primary mechanisms to manage their rental costs:

  • Earn Rewards on Rent: Tenants can earn Max Miles on every payment via credit card or FPS through a partnership with the rewards platform HeyMax.
  • Delay Rent Payments: Users can adjust their payment schedules to better align with personal cash flow.
  • Lower Move-in Costs: The service allows tenants to bypass heavy upfront security deposits by spreading the cost across the duration of the lease.

Rently is also currently establishing partnerships with co-living operators to broaden its reach within the Hong Kong market, where upfront costs typically include a two-month deposit and the first month’s rent.

"Rent is the biggest payment most people make, and still the least flexible. This capital lets us say yes to more tenants, faster, across the UAE, Singapore and Hong Kong, while our equity stays focused on building new products and expanding into new markets."

What FF News has reported before

FF News has previously tracked the investment activities of January Capital and the broader fintech ecosystem in the region. The firm was involved in the funding landscape during the period when Standard Metrics Secures $20M Series B to Transform Private Markets with AI Portfolio Management, highlighting a trend toward more sophisticated financial management tools. Additionally, FF News has reported on early-stage financing rounds for platforms solving liquidity challenges, such as when Nigerian Fintech, Brass, Secures $1.7M Financing Round. These reports underscore the ongoing global appetite for platforms that address specific financing constraints for both businesses and individuals.

What this means

This move highlights a significant shift in the "RentTech" sector toward credit-backed flexibility as a standard consumer expectation. By decoupling the landlord’s requirement for security with the tenant’s need for liquidity, Rently is directly challenging the traditional deposit model that has long acted as a barrier to mobility in expensive hubs like Hong Kong and Dubai. For the wider industry, this announcement puts pressure on traditional banks and property management firms that have been slow to innovate their payment collections. The success of this credit facility suggests that non-dilutive debt is becoming a preferred vehicle for high-volume transaction platforms to scale without sacrificing equity before major valuation milestones.
