Press Release: CONCRYT Deploys Agentic AI Operations to Optimise Live Payment Traffic | Featured Image by FF News

Global payments firm CONCRYT has integrated agentic AI into its live gateway operations, moving beyond simple chatbots to automate the monitoring of millions of transactions. For fintech professionals, this represents a shift from reactive to proactive infrastructure management, where AI identifies performance drops and suggests routing adjustments in real-time to protect merchant approval rates.

What was announced

CONCRYT has moved its agentic AI technology into live production, applying it to the continuous monitoring of its payment gateway. Over the last eight months, the system has processed more than three million transactions, tracking variables such as financial performance, operational limits, and merchant activity. Unlike standard chatbots, this agentic system operates in the background to detect anomalies and investigate potential causes without requiring manual prompts.

The system currently utilizes approximately 100 monitoring rules, with high-priority checks occurring as frequently as once per minute. When the AI detects a drop in approval rates or other performance irregularities, it alerts the operations team and provides specific recommendations on where payment traffic should be rerouted. CONCRYT reports that these routing adjustments are now made daily to optimize success rates for merchants.

Internal engagement with the technology has been significant, with the operations team completing over 2,000 conversations with the AI assistant through Slack, Telegram, and the CONCRYT admin panel this year. This deployment follows the introduction of Large Language Model (LLM) analytics tools earlier in 2024, which allowed merchants to query their own data. According to data from the Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance’s 2026 Global AI in Financial Services Report, while 52% of financial firms are adopting AI, only 23% have moved beyond the pilot phase to full-scale deployment, placing this live implementation ahead of broader industry trends.

"A payment gateway produces more signals every day than any operations team could realistically monitor by hand. The challenge is identifying the small number that need attention early enough to act,"

Andrii Shevchuk, CTO & Co-Partner at CONCRYT.

The companies involved

CONCRYT is a global payments technology company specializing in payment gateway infrastructure and merchant services. The firm focuses on providing tools for payment traffic monitoring, smart routing, and global payouts, positioning itself as a technical layer between merchants and a complex web of global financial institutions. By focusing on the "signals" generated by high-volume transaction environments, the company aims to reduce the manual overhead typically associated with payment operations and fraud prevention.

The Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance (CCAF), whose research was cited in the announcement, is an international interdisciplinary academic research institute based at the University of Cambridge Judge Business School. The CCAF is a prominent voice in the fintech sector, known for its "Global AI in Financial Services Report" and other deep-dive analyses into how emerging technologies are reshaping traditional banking and alternative finance models. Their data highlights a significant gap between fintech firms, where 57% are adopting AI, and traditional institutions, which lag behind at 45%, underscoring the competitive pressure on legacy players to modernize their operational stacks.

What FF News has reported before

FF News has followed CONCRYT’s technical evolution closely, previously reporting on the company’s efforts to streamline merchant operations through its CONCRYT Integrates with PaymentIQ to Enhance Merchant Smart Routing and Global Payouts, which was designed to enhance routing flexibility. The company has also been a frequent contributor to industry discourse regarding security; in late 2025, we covered how Public Fraud Awareness Fades Between Crises Despite AI Threat Escalation, CONCRYT Finds.

Earlier coverage includes CONCRYT’s analysis of the global landscape, such as when the firm Concryt Unveils Global Fraud Hotspots During International Fraud Awareness Week in 2024. Additionally, the company has shared its broader vision for infrastructure through a CONCRYT: New Whitepaper Highlights Payment Gateway Best Practices, which emphasized the need for robust monitoring and efficiency in transaction processing.

What this means

This move signals a transition in the fintech sector from "generative AI" as a conversational novelty to "agentic AI" as a core operational component. By delegating the heavy lifting of signal detection and routing recommendations to automated agents, CONCRYT is addressing the scalability limits of human operations teams. This puts significant pressure on legacy payment gateways that still rely on static rules and manual intervention to manage traffic volatility. However, the industry must now grapple with the implications of automated decision-making; while a human remains in the loop for final routing changes here, the speed of AI-driven finance raises questions about where ultimate liability rests when automated adjustments impact merchant liquidity or consumer access.
